@Hoos9412 Yeah, I heard that about Kaiser on 3MW, and I’m a bit skeptical, too. The last time I watched him was seeing him for IMG when we recruited Blue Cain. He was okay, maybe pretty good, but he didn’t really stick out. Even NIBC, which has good stats, doesn’t record 3pt%. He hit 1.5 per game. Doesn’t jump out, but Blue was only 1.7.
@ElliottHoo I think it’s fair to say that what Jayden did well at ECU translated just fine to UVa (except maybe for drawing fouls). We got about what we could have reasonably expected. Trying to shoe-horn Gardner, BVP, and Minor all into one prototype will obviously involve sanding off some edges. My basic point is we know well the limitations of that type of player here, from an athletic/size perspective.
I also think it’s noteworthy that a lot of our breakout guys breakout mid season. So how some of these guys look in practice/scrimmages might not be telling of how they look in February and March.
My opinion is that we know what we have in imac. he played 20 mpg and shot 39% from 3. he’s good and we already know it. i feel like we aren’t hearing much “chatter” on dunn either. same deal.
the relevant chatter will be do they make the leap or not and i’m not sure that comes out of practices.
I think they are both sequential redshirt/transfer candidates. I think that UVa’s niche place in MBB should be the program equivalent of Damin Altizer - work with the talented kids and prepare them for the next step outside UVa.
