Yeah, Poole is fantastic. I hope they give it to him.
Unfortunately I don’t think it will be that simple.
The keys the keys
Wonder if we’ve ever sent an underclassmen before?
Good question. Dont know how TB has run these things in his tenure
I can’t remember if we have, but I think not. But it basically seems to be seniority. Kihei and Reece are the only two returning starters. Tony’s basic formulas has always followed a years of service methodology. Like, the natty year, it was Salt and Guy. 5th year returning starter plus next most experienced returning starter.
Reece and Kihei are inseparable, on the court and off. I’m glad Kihei is coming back for year 5 because otherwise we’d lose Reece.
Blue-White scrimmage was moved to Sunday, Oct 17 from Saturday the 16th, probably because of the afternoon start time for the Duke game. Women’s game at 1pm, men’s game at 2pm. Gates open at 12pm.
Still no indication that they’ll be streaming the game. A little frustrating. I’ll be there in person taking video on my phone & tweeting out any big things I notice (probably writing some notes on the blog as well), but obviously it’d be much more accessible if they had an actual video feed.
Appreciate your attempt to fill the large gap. Even moving it to Sunday? I don’t get it. There are always logistical things going on that I couldn’t be privy to, but why does it seem like staff is indifferent to whether people see this thing or not?
Id even be fine if they uploaded like 10 minute highlights (not the full 40 minutes). Instead we will get 3 pictures, a 15 second edit and a 2 minute video maybe.
I don’t even follow UNC or Duke basketball on social media and ive seen more about their players as individuals (day in the life, background stories etc.) retweeted than I do of our entire team (to be fair UVA isn’t a big brand in general so not many people are retweeting or engage with UVA compared to other schools in the first place I get that).
They have been getting shorter and shorter as the years go on haha our program really only cares about the big donors.
Dont expect it to stream my man
I guess, but it basically seems nice for big donors who can reschedule their private jet to Teterboro on a whim, but not many others. Don’t lots of big donors live in places where it’s hard to watch this thing live?
Get some flomax
Big donors don’t care about the scrimmage was the point I was going for. If they did then you know there would be a stream.
The whole spirit behind why these public scrimmages exist is supposed to be to give access to the local community who might not be able to afford tickets to a regular season game. At least that’s why Kentucky started theirs and I believe they were the first one. You’d think in a pandemic they would extend the same logic that people couldn’t come in person and allow them to watch on ACCNX. At least for this year.
All in on flomax. Man I have like 4 random streams I have paid for with my son playing college soccer and UVa on the Flo etc
Why do we do this scrimmage if we seemingly want to put so little effort into it? Rescheduling less than a week before to a Sunday when most folks who came into town for football will be gone and a bunch of others will be watching NFL? No streaming? I mean, if our coaching staff or AD or whoever don’t like it, they could just not do it. Just kind of get the vibe they wish they didn’t have to put it on every year and I’m not sure who is making them.
That said, if somebody were to inform me we moved it because it somehow made it easier to use as a recruiting event than a Saturday evening game, I will gladly embrace that narrative whether it’s real or not.
I don’t look at the Sabre often but there’s one poster who is usually correct / “in the know”. That poster seemed to insinuate that the schedule change was due to some sort of poor preparation by the AD’s office.
I don’t know if that’s true. But would be nice if an official explanation was given.
Good luck getting an explanation. It is so bizarre to me that we have such great athletics teams but such an incompetent athletic department
@PhonyBennett using his power for good (the whole children’s cancer research thing is also cool I guess but making a real difference here)
