2022 Recruits and the Summer Calendar

Makes sense. A couple of students admitted in the all male era who had taken a detour to Vietnam for a couple of tours and returned to a U where women where now admitted, told me that the school was absolutely ruined as a result. Hard changes indeed.

No doubt we needed to improve academically if faculty didn’t understand correlation and causation back then

Cville is definitely a destination spot, particularly for weddings right now. I’m sure the downtown mall was in a weird flux during the pandemic but the greater cville area has tons of breweries and wineries which have turned the most business during the pandemic. I imagine the mall was very lively when traudt visited given the less strict CDC guidelines and nice weather.

Homelessness is an unfortunate side effect of housing prices and rent going way up in that area, though college towns always have a lot of homeless in my experience.

If you go back and visit next spring, a hotel will prob run you $200+ a night if you can even find one downtown, that tells you all you need to know about it being a destination.

And was the Dell really torn down? They just did a bunch of work there a few years ago, it’s a natural drainage pond for the university. Maybe they’re finally upgrading those courts, one side was always higher than the other which added to the charm but would be nice if they fixed it.

Thats what I saw Awful the Dell is gone

Explains why I could only dunk on one side while my three point sharpshooting was off on the other. It has haunted me for years.

I’m fairly sure the Dell courts are being removed to make room for the new Contemplative Sciences center. They are adding some courts over by Nameless field though.

I just remember when I was a bout to graduate, they were building that temporary dining hall in Nameless Field to account for the new dorms dining facility being renovated.

Dam I never heard of Nameless Field either

Honestly, I’m going to stop donating if they’re using money to build a Contemplative (non)Science Center.

The Contemplative Sciences Center has been around for about a decade. This is a new building, major donors Paul Tudor and Sonia Jones.

What exactly is it?

I looked it up. It is like doing Zoom meditations on the lawn and yoga and stuff from what I could gather

Yeah seems pretty cool. I’m glad that there is a program at UVA that addresses more of the Mind, Body, Spirit aspect. Programs like this should continue to allow UVA to be one of the top Public Schools in the country.

All those things are great but dont take The Dell down for it. That place was a cultural experience ha

I’ve read a couple updates on the visit and it’s hard not to think this ends positively for UVa. Seems to have connected well with Bennett.

If it gets drawn out though, that’s where it gets murky IMO. Hopefully, after the first round of visits, it’s enough. But he does seem set on letting it play out for a while.

Whenever I see that a recruit is waiting to make a decision after taking a bunch of visits I wonder ā€œwhat offer is he waiting for?ā€

Agree it’s a good fit. Want to see what he says about MSU and UNC. Those are more competition than Creighton and Nebraska despite where he’s from…
