Being a national champ winning team should raise the bar above a 23 win team where the on-court product left a lot to be desired and it took a small miracle to even get selected for the play-in. I get a lot of tortured fan bases would happily trade places with us but the last 5 years has generally been a disappointment

Virginia reached the apex of college basketball in 2018-19. The brand was never more attractive. Coach redemption, lottery picks, thrilling games, alpha-type players. The door was wide open and the red carpet laid out for us to distinguish ourselves as a true blueblood-lite program, a fixture of the big three with Duke and UNC in the ACC. Importantly, we had national respect and buy-in.
This staff, over what will be 6 years next season, completely squandered and fumbled this golden opportunity for the University to solidify and establish a revenue sport as an elite program. In context, somehow, and against all probability, winning that title actually served as the catalyst of the programās decline.
The title ābumpā has been thoroughly extinguished. Recruits today were 10 and 11 years old when we won it. Nationally, our brand isnāt just down, we won 23 games and still turned ourselves into a meme-team. Our team looks slow and unathletic. Worse they look afraid.
The State of the Program has never been more clear. We are now in the new era. A slow burn of perpetual portal purgatory. We will slowly become a mediocre, upper third ACC program that exceeds expectations every now and then but is largely an afterthought on the national stage.

This board is such a wonderful collection of UVA fans. People bring their unique perspectives, outlooks, opinions, etc. Some skew negative, some skew positive, but at the end of the day, we all coexist pretty damn well for a board compared to its counterparts that are toxic and obnoxious. Itās a wonderful place, even when things arenāt the most rosy.
Then thereās you. I donāt know if you get lost on your way to the UVA sports facebook comment section when you end up here, but your intentions are always clear. Youāve been banned before and I just wish we could go ahead and make it permanent. You donāt try to ever add anything of substance so please, go find the sabre and leave us alone.

Hereās the thing I donāt get when something like this is posted. No one is making you watch Virginia basketball. You can do so many other things with your time. Ride a bike, read a book, learn how to cook, today you could go outside and watch the eclipse. The choices are almost limitless.
