Stanford is headed to Omaha in walk-off fashion on a routine pop fly that Texas’ OFers didn’t see.
Just wow.

That stinks for Texas, terrible way to go out. Was an awesome game/series
I just watched the replay of the final play in the Stanford & Texas game… that was brutal for the right fielder. Feel real bad for him.
Wonder how old that stadium is. Short fences might explain the following story. Being quite small, I could not hit the ball over the fence wherever I played. Never in Little League, Pony League, or in the high school or Legion ball parks. Not even in practice.
We were playing Wake at their place in 1964 and I connected on a ball to left-center. I was running balls out (maybe an inside the park job) and the shortstop put up his hand and said “You can stop running, it went over the fence”. I thought he was kidding but I did jog in from third.
Must’ve been this park.
Great story. I didn’t know you were on the baseball team as well. Completely awesome.
Yeah, I was a better baseball player, relative to my peers, than in basketball. I think I was a threat to be the All-ACC shortstop my last year, but I injured my knee in a game at Clemson and missed nearly a third of the season. At that time we are talking about 8 or 9 games.
Jim West was the coach.
But the dimensions are the same for both teams, right? They are ranked #1 for a reason. Incredible run differential.
You got it. And the other teams only managed 3 runs per game.
Their pitching has held back their opponents in that park this year. We saw the Hoos play there last year and it was a home run derby for our guys.
Jim West was my neighbor growing up in Greenbrier back in the 60s. The Wests were 3 doors down. His son was my age. I spent a lot of time at UVA games back then.
Frank Quayle moved in next door when his NFL career ended. Great guy.
i hear you and won’t want to root for SEC, but i still like being the most recent ACC champ (and the only one since Wake back in '55 - though Miami has 4 from before they were in the ACC).
in the absence of us winning, guess that would have me rooting for TCU (nope), Oral (definitely nope), or Stanford, which becomes the choice by default.
That’s cool. I used to see Coach long time ago at the football games. I think he had tailgate parking spot near the entrance. Some of the past players would get a chance to speak to him. One Saturday (think he might have been a little into the juice) he introduced me to his friends as “The best shortstop in Virginia history”. Now, I wasn’t naive enough to think he meant that but was proud he could utter that with a straight face.
But wait, the next ball game as I getting within earshot at his parking spot I heard him say “Meet (I don’t know who) the best second baseman in Virginia history”. Funny, but showed he was a player’s coach.

Gonna be a lot of new UVA baseball fans after this tweet.
WOW! 3 run HR by Oral Roberts #9 hitter puts them up 6-5 in top of the 9th!
Outs on the base paths ain’t great
Base running errors killing us so far
Saucke just made one of the best throws from the OF I’ve seen in the college game.
That was incredible!
Parker is dealing now. We need hits!
