2023 Late Recruiting Cycle

Cain had 2.5 assists per game in his league games. He didn’t play PG, so that seems like a decent number for a SG. His PG was one of the league’s assist leaders, and I think Cain had more of the scoring load.

I think he’s a good player. I sort of wish he had stuck with GT rather than go to UGa. Things are a bit crowded here, even if Reece does go pro, so I get it. I basically think we need a few really high level players to get back to the final 4 caliber type team we were from 14-19. iMac has a decent chance of being one. So then we are hoping that one or more of the following hit: Dunn, Bond, Elijah, maybe Rohde. Cain seemed like he would’ve given us another roll of the dice to be one of those guys.

hated it from a roster construction standpoint, loved it from getting another roll of the dice on a potentially elite player.

I think Buchanan should be added to that list. He does seem to have the potential.

Call me petty if y’all want, I don’t care, but I never wanted Blue because he’s named after a Dookie and he looks like a douche

Until he transfers next year?

Perhaps. Maybe it depends on the scope of his role next season? I am certain several of you can make a compelling argument for the transfer portal, but from my point of view it has only managed to create mass chaos.

Not always going to be about NIL. This has been know his whole recruitment that it’s about playing time.

A lot of competition for Blue Cain to be a contributor at UVA.

I wasn’t thinking of NIL in particular, but of a broad range of things, including playing time. style, roles, etc.

True. I think UVA was Blues too choice. Ultimately playing time… he was basically sitting 13th had he come here.

I wish we had another point guard on the roster. I like Harris as a backup.

If Elijah doesn’t end up being an elite player, then I don’t know anything about basketball. Kid is a stud

Perfect summary

I mean Gertrude and Taine (counting Bond as more 4 than 3) are the only guard depth. Gertrude is gonna have to play (15-20 - as Fresh predicted a while back)

@StLouHoo can you bump the minutes chart you did a week or so ago. Sorry to ask again, but found it very plausible and have looked back at it a bunch

I see with Groves being added that Bond will play a lot at the 3. Or a lot of them both playing at the 3/4 however you want to slot it.

That is probably correct (I keep forgetting about Groves). Hope Bond has worked on his handle. He might be the guy I am most looking forward to see in action. He spent equal time in hs working the perimeter and posting guys down low. Think he might be our first ‘guard’ to take advantage of that skill in a long time

I entirely left him out of my estimated roster minutes a few weeks back. It was the day after he committed lol.

He’s a really interesting piece to this team. Don’t want to expect too much from him but he fills in gaps that this team was lacking before he committed.

I think seeing what Bond is going to be is one of the big unanswered questions going into next season and will impact what TB is looking for at 3/4 in the 2024 class.

We are going to need Bond to play some 3. We have presumptive starters 1-3 of Harris, iMac and Rohde, Gertrude first guard off bench, and Taine next if he gets any minutes. So I think we need bond to play some 3. Would guess Bond would be ahead of Taine, but would be a nice surprise if Taine contributed meaningfully.

Unless of course Reece comes back.

We just picked up multiple big men so that Bond won’t have to play the 4. So he will be a 2-3, plus with Rhodes we have a good amount of guard depth.
