While I haven’t watched much, what I’ve seen hasn’t dissuaded me that he can help. Presuming that the staff starts Dunn at PF (especially if he adds a bit of weight and strength with Mike Curtis over the summer) and that they’re willing to throw Buchanan into the fray early, what Virginia needs more than anything is playable depth on the front line. What I saw from Minor in that little bit I did watch was effort and athleticism. That alone would be great. If he can add more, then all the better. FWIW, I also saw a Euro-step and a made “3”. Probably highlights, but encouraging. What I didn’t see was defensive rebounding, but that rarely makes highlight videos anyway. I have a suspicion that the staff knows what it is doing here.

Wonder if we take a look here. Was one of the last players the UVA bball twitter account followed (when staff used that twitter account to follow targets). From the Carolinas, maybe related to Jayden Gardner, played on Boo Williams. Was also randomly teammates with Elijah Gertrude and Davin Cosby at the New Jersey event.

What I saw of Gardner reminded me a lot of Tariq Owens at TTech. Super lanky big who has some skill and face up game.

I’m trying not to exaggerate this, but I think Minor is a very important if not vital recruit for a few reasons. One is that he’s probably the best available PF that UVA is in deep with currently. He offers size, athleticism, experience all at a position of serious need. Day 1 starter. Also helps stop the bleeding of attrition and give some positive momentum to the program. Any known commodities help with roster building and lets the staff focus on adding other pieces too.
There are some big names currently not in the portal that may enter and UVA would immediately be a contender for but locking in Minor is the bird in hand. Hopefully he commits Monday following that trip to Ft Myers. We could use some good news.

Everything super positive other than not committing while in Charlottesville. Hoping he doesn’t extend things too much. JG was great but I feel like Minor can offer more of the things you want out of a true PF (rebounding/defense/garbage pts). A good bit longer and taller. I think we’ll get him but would like to not have to sweat it out.

Hmmm, if the shooting off screens is a thing he does, that’s pretty interesting. Though I guess his guy got hung up on the screen enough that it wasn’t that different from a spot-up shot in terms of time to set himself.
