Really hard to build a program in this day and age. Was a solid veteran point guard that could have helped them be in the hunt for a tourney appearance next season.
Wonder if he ends up back at Wisconsin or Marquette.
4 assists to 2 turnovers and 40% from 3 in the ACC ain’t no joke.
Would love if we pursued Zackery. Good shooter, good defender, and a half court PG (a lot of these high production guys popping up from mid majors score a bunch of points in transition which just won’t be possible here). Would be a great guy for Bliss to get mentored by for a year or two, could see Bliss having a similar play style.
Take Brown and Zackery and call it a day for now (still on the lookout for a 6-7+ shooting big3/small 4 type - wait, did I just describe Jarin Stevenson?).
We’re the only ACC team without departures that wasn’t a 2nd-weekend NCAAT team. I think Duke/Clemson/UNC are all pre-news still. State’s only departure was a guy who’d been kicked off the team earlier this year anyways.
Based on all of the reach outs to lead guards, could there have been a conversation with Dante that went something like this…
“We’re going to look for a point guard in the portal to bring in. If we find the right guy, you’d be better off somewhere else. If we don’t find the right guy, there will be a role for you on this team.”
I mean Zackary and Maliq as legitimate proven ACC players (good defenders and good offensive players) who also have a little room to grow and then McKneely Gertrude and Buchanan taking the next steps in their game is a pretty damn good starting 5.
Guard rotation could use some help outside Bliss. And front court otherwise is freshmen. Also a jumbo wing would be nice
