I feel so dirty reading that and hate the prospect of it. But also I’d take a consistent 8 wins year in and year out. As long as the Hoos hit the over in more than half their games.

I’d take that and not think twice. As Dragon said, consistently 8 wins and a top third bowl game would be a dream. Every now and then compete for the league title. Hell yes, sign me up.

That’s about the level I’d hope for, but without the anemic offenses. I’d rather not be a fan than win 7-3 without scoring a TD (which Iowa has done and against a FCS team at that).

That’s the tough part there’s absolutely an aesthetics factor that comes in to place. Iowa can get away with the grind it out ugly offense because the fans for better or worst have become accustomed to that. It’s “Iowa football” Convincing a fanbase that is the way to go, especially in the current era is very difficult and it leaves very little room for error. Go 5-7 and everyone has an easy scapegoat to point to.
