This thread has given me more sympathy for Carla’s predicament. There are good reasons to keep EVERY sport. And there are also good reasons to cut every sport other than Football and Men’s Hoops. (Or cut the funding or scholarships or whatever changes House is forcing)
Oh, I know you didn’t advocate for cutting VB. My post was addressing issues with cutting rowing, but then I remembered Amy Griffin is a big doner and former VB player (also made big donations to track) and added that cautionary point too, for everyone else who though about dropping VB (which I myself put on a cutable list earlier).
Softball also has a prominent patron, the Palmers, whom the stadium is named after.
Ohanian for WBB.
I’m trying to think of other prominent donors (not necessarily to sports) who are sports alums. Can’t cut them off either.
Volleyball should be a sport we’re investing in vs. cutting. Tbh if we’re cutting something (I don’t think we are yet), we might have to have a difficult conversation about Men’s Soccer. I know we have great history but not sure how much benefit the department is getting from that program.
Starting to wonder why we haven’t heard anything definitive about O’Connor. One could assume that if this gets pushed into the weekend UVA’s chances are still good.
Reading through this thread, I’m struck that these aren’t problems our cousins to the southwest have. When you have a lot of strong programs and almost all of them have at least a history of success it’s a burden to figure out how to prioritize them.
Fiyah. Beware the Fresh bass fish emoji assist @chavlicek15
Meh, I could be convinced to go the UConn route, relegate football and join the Big East.
Miss St is still playing, won’t announce anything til they’re done I’d imagine.
Oh, I meant Track is ditto for Softball. Historic record isn’t great, but doing well recently plus nice facilities. By “going nowhere”, I meant it has zero chance of getting cut.
https://www.vapss.org/va-tech-soil-judging-team Hokies are trying to fully fund one of their top teams
This doesn’t align with my narrative, won’t see me peddling “facts” if that’s what you want
Certainly they’ll wait until they get eliminated
Been on the road for work. Regardless of what happens to us moving forward, rest assured that we are 35 Natty’s ahead of Bass Tech.
I’d imagine by now we’ve made BOC happy with the new resources?

Not helping the vibes lmao! Regardless I think drew dickinson is gone @UVApride7
I’m all in on Mike Glavine.
That’s name being floated around the most right now, guess it depends on how much you believe the word of certain posters.
He checks a lot of boxes. Think he’d have a high probability of being successful. Can’t ignore what he’s done at NE.
