7-6 Jax State top 8, Becker with a two out, two RBI double off the LCF wall.
Runner on 2nd and two down for Gracia.
Gracia works a walk but Tiroly grounds out to 3rd to end the frame. Damn.
Back in it though.

That was a tough play. Their infield has made some big ones today.
You’ll never guess who’s coming into pitch.
Lucas Hartman comes on in relief of Jaxel.
Guess we’re saving Stroman and Yoder for next season….
Stroman I get to an extent, he hasn’t pitched in forever for a reason.
Yoder though, yeah I don’t know. He should have came in instead of Jaxel.
Credit to Hartman, he works a breezy 1-2-3 frame. Looked like the Harty of earlier in the season.
7-6 Jax State heading top 9. We’ve got three outs left, do or die time for the Hoos.
Pitching change for Jax State, they go to a lefty.
Didawick grounds out to 2nd.
One down for Weatherspoon.
Weatherspoon K’s swinging.
Two down for Jackson.
Jackson K’s swinging.
Season over.
With a whimper.
Eh, I’d say the bats did their best to get us back in it in the 8th. We went down fighting.
Surprised we didn’t pitch hit right there for Jackson. Get a righty in there
At least there was some fight on our way out. We have some pieces to build on for next year.
Jacksonville State wins 7-6 to advance to the winner’s final and improve to 48-14 on the season. UVA falls to 37-23 and is eliminated from the NCAA tournament.
Up next is a long offseason, will post my final thoughts in a little bit and then probably start the offseason thread tomorrow or Tuesday.
We got a nice young core or is it about to get a little portal-y at Davenport?
The GS was bad after two BB’s and an 0-2 count. But it was early enough. The 3 runs in the 7th were a gut-punch. We clawed back in it and there was fight. Sad end of the season over the last 1.5(ish) months. Hopefully the young guys take a step forward and the bullpen becomes more reliable. Interested to see how Pollard does in the portal.
Little bit of both. Will do a breakdown of the projected roster tomorrow or maybe tonight if I’m bored, but on paper we should have a really solid nucleus of young arms to work with next year.
Bats are a little more dicey, depending on how the draft goes we’ll probably need a couple of power hitters via the portal. Should have a lot more team speed and be better in the field though.
I am shocked that the move to Jaxel bit us in the ass.
You’ll be happy to know that Jaxel, at least to my knowledge, is out of eligibility.
