I assume he’s gone but in theory that should be a difficult decision given the money and his upside.

I wonder if Joe decides to come back.

It’s not unprecedented for a college guy to get drafted in the top ten rounds and not sign, it’s happened eight times in the last five drafts. But for the most part orgs are making these picks because they know guys are gonna sign at these spots.

Johnson does make sense as a player who would have a pretty high chance of improving his draft stock next year, but still it would take a near miracle to get him back.

Disgraced former Hoo Henry Ford goes in the 6th round (191st overall) to the Mariners.

Not there yet. If it goes another 2-3 rounds of him not getting drafted then you start to raise your eyebrows a little bit.

Yikes. His first year in Cville there was talk of him being a Round 1-2 guy.

The Mariners traded away Harry Ford last winter, they needed to replace the name.

I’m pretty sure I saw on here awhile ago where his agent was quoted as demanding a hefty sum of money to play when he entered the portal last year.

Joe Tiroly goes in the 7th round (215th overall) to the Padres.

We’re officially through ten rounds, at the halfway point. I think there’s a bit of a break and then picks resume.

Draft is going pretty much as expected so far, no big surprises. Harris not being picked yet is interesting, not out of the woods but it’s at the point where he probably should come back given he has another year of leverage. Base slot value for every pick going forward will be $150k.

Hopefully we see Kapa and Didawick get taken at some point relatively soon, I’m more confident in the former than the latter.

For anyone holding out any hope on Bo Lowrance, he’s replaced UVA Baseball in his IG bio with Dodgers.

Day two of the draft has officially come to a close. As a recap, we saw Kyle Johnson, Joe Tiroly, and Tyler Kapa get picked today. Unfortunately Harrison Didawick did not get his name called.

Barring any unexpected UDFA signings, we were able to keep our HS class sans Lowrance intact, our transfer portal class intact, and also got the added bonus of getting Sam Harris back for another season. Even with his flaws at the plate and in the field, we desperately needed at least one more power bat in our lineup and he should supply that. Am interested to see how we finish up in the portal, Preston Willett on thesabre mentioned that we have another commit but the announcement was supposedly expected to happen last weekend. So not sure what’s going on there.

Overall a pretty successful draft for us.

The ACC has seen only one team reach Omaha over the last two seasons, but chances are they’ll send two to the promised land in 2027. The question is, besides UNC, who is the most likely candidate?

The ‘Hoos are losing major firepower on offense, as Eric Becker, AJ Gracia, and Joe Tiroly will all be moving on to the next level. Program stalwart Harrison Didawick is gone. That said, slugger Sam Harris and catcher Jake Weatherspoon return despite being draft-eligible.

That leaves Zach Jackson, Noah Murray, RJ Holmes, and Antonio Perrotta as the other key returners. They’ll be joined by a slew of impact transfers like Mike Elko (Richmond), Jordan Crosland (Maryland), Sal Mineo (Delaware), and Reid Howard (Western Kentucky).

It’s a lineup lacking star power but one that’s deep and balanced enough when considering the freshman class coming in. On the pitching side, Henry Zatkowski, John Paone, and Noah Yoder will be joined by A-10 Pitcher of the Year Joey Giordano (Richmond) and Serigne Sarre (Mount St Mary’s).

Sure, like every other ACC team, there are a lot of concerns and question marks. But the upside is there, and if certain things go right, the ‘Hoos could make a return to Omaha after a two-year absence.

If you’d like to see the other write ups which includes more than the top eight dm with your email.
