Hopefully 3B
Good read on the staff’s offseason approach.
The window to enter the portal officially closed yesterday. Will give it another day to see if there’s any late entries but I’m not seeing any new names on 64analytics’ transfer board.
Mentioned it a couple times in this thread but I’m very surprised at a few of the names who decided to stick around. Interested to see how the roster number works itself out.
MLB.com released their top 250 draft rankings. Of note to us…
- 19th. OF AJ Gracia
- 21st. 3B Bo Lowrance (HS commit)
- 41st. SS Eric Becker
- 148th. 2B/3B Joe Tiroly
- 151st. LHP Kyle Johnson
Will Yow was dropped from the list after taking his name out of the draft, was ranked 108th in the last iteration of the rankings. Neither Clatur nor Loggie being listed is a good sign for us, could still be risks depending on how much new eligibility rules change the draft dynamic but strictly going off past history I’d say we have a good shot at seeing both on Grounds. Am also beginning to get more confident we see Sam Harris return, again not a guarantee but his stock hasn’t been particularly high across these lists this offseason.
I’ve actually heard that Lowrance will have a very high asking price come draft day which I found interesting, but he’s been getting pretty consistent first round grades the past month so it likely won’t matter to us.
Am gonna repost the roster tracker from the top of the thread as I’ve ran out of edits on the original post. Wall of text incoming.

Removed Nick Stutzman from our recruiting class, he has flipped to App State.
Are any of the transfer ins draft risk?
I think there’s a shot Crosland or Elko get picked day two but I haven’t seen either show up on any draft rankings. Also believe Reid Howard is a draft eligible sophomore but would be surprised if he gets taken.
What’s the plan for 3B? I’m also assuming the staff have full confidence in weatherspoon behind the plate…
I wonder if it is Elmo at 3B and Yow or Holmes at 2B.
That’s very possible. From the article I posted above by Greg Madia, it sounds like the non 1B infield spots are going to be an open competition. We probably should toss Bryant James into the mix too.
Any chance in hell Bo Lawrence ends up at UVa/3rd? I wanna dream big
I do not have high expectations on Lowrance if he stays in the draft. I think if we are going to pull a miracle and land him, he’ll withdraw this next week and make it academic.
The only chance we have of seeing Lowrance on Grounds is if his asking price is a 1st round slot value and teams aren’t showing willingness to sign him for that much in the leadup to the draft. But based off how much he’s raised his stock over the past six months I think it’s highly likely he gets taken early.
No way he makes it to grounds right?
Once I read “Top 40” recruit for 2027 I assumed it was over, haha. We can hope though.
Hi @gooddoyouwor. Are you friends of @janooon ? Do you have any thoughts about basketball too?

Sounds pretty set on going in the draft. Really wanted him to start at 3B for us
I thought baseball players can get drafted and then decide if they want to take whatever MLB might offer vs. go to college. Maybe I am misunderstanding how it works, but why would you withdraw if that’s the case? I’ll admit I’m no expert so maybe I am missing a nuance.
