🏀 ACC Men's Basketball - Week 1: 4-10 November 2024

We are so behind on guards from all these other teams who have 3-4 guards they can rely on to create and drive and also shoot a little.

Do we even have one who can do all of those things together? Need Dai Dai and Bliss to grow in the non conference

They looked awful the stretch I watched. Lawal is exciting though.

Any remotely decent team will be able to press up on their guards and completely take them out of what they want to do. Losing Hysier Miller is gonna really hurt them. 16 turnovers against Delaware state

The ACC went 15 - 0 last night. Average margin of victory was 25 points. Closest win was Syracuse by 5 over LaMoyne. The largest margin of victory … Louisville. Who won by 48.

For @Sknyluv and @zh00s. There are no dolphins near Syracuse, but there are dolphins off of Siracusa, Sicily. The old bishop of Siracusa had a dolphin on his seal, so the bishop of Syracuse has one on his. Hence the LeMoyne Dolphins.

Incredible. Their nickname is a pure jingle-jangle fallacy?

ACC, 18 - 0. GT won by 26, ND by 29. UVA by 9.

A long time left in OOC to mess this up, and I don’t think it’s relevant for UVA this year because I don’t think we’re a tournament team, but it’s nice for the ACC to not immediately be the worst power conference like it has been the last few years!

ACC, 21 - 0. Wake by 16 over NC A&T, SMU whooped FL A&M by 29, and CAL won by 18.

First consequential games tonight. BC has a tough VCU team and UNC v. Kansas.

Will Stanford be a surprise team? Can’t read too much into it so far but for a team supposed to be in the basement they’re making easy work of the early cupcakes.

Yes. Kyle Smith can pull wins out of any situation.

Watching VCU/BC. BC isn’t very good but can certainly see why VCU gave us issues. Very athletic. Our offensive mvmt seems so slow compared to a lot of teams I’ve been watching.

Rinse and repeat

I was watching freaking Cal Poly put up a half decent first half fight against Cal last night and found myself thinking “Man, these Cal Poly kids move the ball with pace and are making hard cuts… does this look better than us?” Obviously they’re terrible, but it’s weird seeing so many other teams run their stuff with purpose and pace even if they can’t finish while it feels like we get bogged down in the mud so much.

VCU not shooting well, but making BC look like the mid major team in this game. Up 33-20 at half.

For as much praise as Odom gets for being a good offensive coach, his team is playing some smothering full court pressure D.

BC will be better next year when they add Power to their roster (for you @Jerome).

At some point “playing slow” went from being a description of pace to a description of playing style.

Sometimes I wonder if we think the point of basketball is to play good defense.

Watching Carolina vs Kansas and I don’t know who is going to guard these UNC guards for us.

They have maximum quickness. Reece just negated RJ or Cadeau. But I don’t believe any of our guards are quick enough to play these guys.

Maybe if we had Elijah Gertrude this year, but I can’t see how iMac, Rohde and / or Dai Dai can handle these guys.

Man we are gonna miss having Reece and Ryan when we play athletic teams.

Sorry for the depressing post but we just don’t seem to have the horses at the guard positions this year.

Go Hoos.

Still holding out hope Bliss helps and Dai Dai is the eventual answer at pg. but yea, I think we are going to say that a lot re: other teams guards.

UNC defense will probably be pretty weak this year, but Kansas looks like a machine offensively. Their roster is filled with talented scorers up and down.
