What is the most expensive mug of beer youāve ever drank?
Iām not talking about the most expensive brand of beer⦠just most expensive beer when the bill came, you were like⦠W.T.F. did I just drink?
Iāve got two to discussā¦
San Tropez - My wife and I took the train from Nice many moons ago and sat at a cafe by the harbor where all the yachts were moored. We order two beers and when the bill comes, it ends up being 40 EUR for two beers!
Copenhagen - On a work trip with a systems engineer⦠walking towards the convention center and stopped off for a beer. Two beers and 15 minutes later⦠cost was 300 Danish Krone. After I did the math, I had to sit down.
At Darden, one thing the 2nd years had to do back in the day was work on a corporate-sponsored project. Darden mostly set them up, though I think a few students ended up doing their own thing.
My 2nd year, they explained the projects and then had us all turn in a top 5 preference list and they tried to sort us into stuff we wanted to do. Unfortunately, by far the most popular one (half of us put it as our first choice) was Gallo wines doing a study on the Spanish wine market. The Gallo brothers were, iirc, Italian, and wanted to eventually export wine back home but they thought that was too big an initial lift so they wanted to potentially try Spain first.
Turns out, of the 30 randomly picked people NOT ONE spoke Spanish. What are the odds? So the put me on the team after confirming sheād come on the trip with us (which we confirmed and she did). Sometimes life confirms you married the right person with semi-free boondoggles and free wine.
The other group went to Madrid, didnāt speak Spanish, and apparently no one they met with spoke English. They also drank a bunch of wine but didnāt have a great time.
Madison is not a typical college town and on the first visit, I couldnāt understand why people loved it so much. By my third visit, I was ready to move there. Heās having a great time and actually studying too
When i ws in college (bout 20 yrs ago) UW was known for a massive Halloween celebration/party. Would start with parties this weekend and go through next. State street would be hoping. I dated a girl who went to UW and Iād go up was a fun time.
I donāt know if its exactly the same, but I had a buddy go to college in Minnesota and some of the drinking stories he came back with were wild. There was one party where they taped a bottle of peppermint schnapps to everyoneās hand and they ran around doing events until they finished the bottle.
That is a great idea although even in my prime peppermint schnapps would have made me hurl. Those big mid west schools come up with some wild idea. Too much time cooped up inside in the winter.
I know the thread is beer, but I need an appropriate drink to drown my CTB sorrows. At the moment Iām thinking Jeffersonās Bourbon, but Iām open to suggestions.
