Hodge to ODU feels weird to me. I’m sure Jones is gonna be able to secure him a hefty bag but like you said he’s already got that at Nova, and realistically he’s gonna be using ODU as a stepping stone to a better P6 program in the future. So why not just start at a P6 program to begin with lol, I know Nova isn’t in the most stable place currently but that seems like a big risk to take.

with P6 there is a risk of just being a bench guy with no stats. You can go mid Major, play right away and put up big numbers, and become a coveted NIL Portal millionaire. Or at least how some of these kids see it.

Also imagine way more freedom on a mid Major.

Rumors about Matthew Hodge switching to ODU have been swirling for a few days. I don’t know anything about it. But I think it’s funny when stuff like this happens and totally destroys the excuses people make about recruits. Remember Villanova threw a huge NIL deal at Hodge? That’s why nobody else stood a chance. But now suddenly ODU can top them…haha

My point was the big NIL story was garbage, just an excuse other schools use when they don’t get a recruit. In this case, coming from Maryland.

If he flips, it’ll be largely because Villanova took three recruits at the same position. And obviously his relationship with Jones now at his dad’s alma mater. No clue if it’ll actually happen. Would take a leap of faith on his part…I’m sure Jones is selling him and others on making ODU the Gonzaga of the east coast or something like that.
