Not clear to me why Caffaro wouldn’t correct that, other than he’s probably just happy when people refer to him by any of his actual names.

Funnily, while lots of UVA teams have audio clips of the player pronouncing their name and hometown on their profile page, mens bball does not.

Brazilian pronunciations are HARD! Took me two or three trips before I got the hang of the d’s and the t’s and the r’s and all the rest. And, of course, now I’ve forgotten it all.
