My one millionth post lamenting how Hunter has been solid is his new bench role.

Forgot it was legal for a player to just go score in isolation

edit: Ty Jerome is COOKING

Great to see Ty bouncing back. He hit a few game slump after getting sick but seems back on it tonight

Dre!! Big time game.

6th man Dre led all scorers with 24 in a win over the Knicks. Really thriving in that role, often the leading scorer for the Hawks recently

He’s on fire - actually being consistent… seems his attitude has a sharper more confident edge this year.

It’s all brilliant, but :23 on is the Dre we all know.

So does he deserve to start? Haha

1 rule change would help the game the most I think….
Change the scoring to the following:
Threes are 4
Twos are 3
FTs are 1.5
Nobody really cares about most records anyway, and you can always convert all the old records into the new scoring system.
That way, three pointers are actually worth what they should be instead of 150% more than a two point field goal.
It would even out the game and stop the madness of so many three-point attempts in the league.

Nah let him thrive against the 2s

True but with a few hige caveats. As someone who watches the Hawks when they are on TV and follows the team, the 33’ jumpers he hits are the kiss of death, because he can hit that but of course not at a 38% clip, so he randomly settles for those regardless of shot clock and, at least in those instances, escews dribble drive that few can stop and that would lead to fouls, runners, alley-oops, kickouts, etc, which are far more consistently beneficial. Also, though he showed more effort in last night’s game on D, watch him ā€œfightā€ through a pick, even in this one, and you know why the Hawks D doesn’t inspire confidence. Apologies, long rant, just couldn’t leave your true statement out there without some context that he’s earned from me for driving me nuts as a fan.

Saw this suggested elsewhere, it’s definitely interesting and could work in theory but might be too radical a change for it to actually happen. I think there would be a bunch of outrage over the difference in stats and records constantly being broken.

Will say that I enjoyed watching Olympic level basketball this past summer where teams were able to actually play some semblance of on ball defense without being called for a foul every 10 seconds. So maybe loosening the grip on hand checks could help out.

Agree with the sentiment, but would be simpler just to change threes to be worth 2.5. Less change, exact same result in terms of relative values.

(Okay, technically ā€œexact same resultā€ would be making threes worth 2.67, but 2.5 is close enough, it’s not mathematically optimized in either case.)

I think 1.33 ratio is the right one. Makes it attractive to shoot threes for the right players but not for everyone… it’s enough to keep spacing but would put a bit more value on 12-18 footers which is still a much easier shot if the ease of the shot is the same regarding contested or not.
Right now the mid range stats are all awry as they are mostly shot when they have to as opposed to because they want to.
