Hmm. 3rd guard/backup PG is not exactly a place where you typically need a plus defender. But I guess Cleveland starts two below average l defensive guards, so maybe they feel like they need access to lineups combos with better perimeter defense.
Yeah that was my thought. More on personnel. Their main issue is that Garland and Mitchell are subpar defenders. Strus and Dre are probably average.

Ty helped Cleveland to a lot of regular season wins this past season. I can see some team wanting him to help get them to the playoffs, then, if theyāre worried about his defense later, trading him for defense. Of course, I donāt know what the final trading deadline is so that would factor into the logic of such a move.
