Idk - they’ve had three coaches and Dre’s stats are basically unchanged. The biggest thing for him is just hitting wide open threes. He gets tons of them and needs to convert.
I know others blame Trae Young. And although Trae has faults, they aren’t why Dre is still shooting in the low-mid 30s from 3.
That and rebounding. He’s not a great rebounder. Veccinie has talked about how his rebound % is super low for comparable players. Sometimes he can check out a bit, lose an aggressive edge.
Snyder’s a great coach, so he should be able to figure a way to unlock something in Hunter. Key for him is staying healthy. Injuries have really stunted his development.
The contract makes him a bit hard to move too. It’s not terrible per year, but it isn’t an expiring and Hunter’s injury history makes him a risky acquisition. If the Hawks have to attach assets to move him, they might as well keep him and hope he can stay healthy and figure out how to shoot 40% on catch and shoot 3s.
How good are NBA dudes these days?
Sam Hauser is shooting 44.6% from Three point land…
That only ranks him 22nd in the league.
Last year that would have ranked 2nd.
Brogdon finished 4th last year at 44.4%.
51 guys are shooting over 40% on threes.
