For sure. When he caught that ball my mind flashed immediately to Joe Harris. No way they miss in transition.
Sam’s a very good shooter when left open, and even coming off a curl. But when defended straight-up by an athletic defender, or even someone bigger, he struggles big-time, and doesn’t have the ability even as a 5th year kid to put in on the deck and make a bucket or something happen.
All relative. Does he have that ability to the level of Dre? No. Does he have that ability relative to the above average P6 starter? Yes.
Not sure why you’re bringing up Dre when going over Sam’s strengths and weaknesses?
Because it’s a relative weakness and not an absolute weakness. Sam is better at creating his own shot than the vast majority of college 4’s. But it’s also true he doesn’t do it at an elite level like he shoots open 3’s at an elite level. Or how a more surefire pro prospect like Dre did.
