Lower scoring. More length, more athleticism, but more youth and worse in the half court. We muck it up. Lose by 15 or so. Maybe 10 if theyâre colder.

Iâm curious if freshman/first years are less likely to transfer if there is a trip overseas in the summer before their freshman year. Someone get on that and research it then post the results.

Hard to get a feel from the highlights, but my sense was there was a lot of transition shots compared to our regular season games. Iâm guessing partly the shot clock, partly matching their style, and partly YOLO August vacation game mentality.
Makes me take the final score a bit less seriously than I already was, which was not very seriously to begin with.
In other hopeful news, McKneeley looked real comfortable out there and like he belongs. May be in the KG and Jerome mold of first years who get decent run.

Kadin points out that the team bonding/chemistry that results from a trip like this is a particularly big deal for the first-years, which makes me glad this is the year the trip was scheduled (given the big/quality incoming class). I think that might be especially important for anyone getting redshirted; make sure theyâre âin the familyâ right off the bat so theyâre not feeling like theyâre on the outside looking in.

Even so, itâs the same for both teams. They want to impress the NBA scouts; I assume our guys with NBA aspirations did, too. They want to impress their coaches: so did we. The game didnât count for their record; doesnât count for us, either.
That factor just cancels out, IMO.
Edit - sorry, to be clear, âitâ is the summer vacation-ness of it all
