It’s a bit premature to draw any conclusions with 10 practices and a foreign joy trip.
Two of the most fun seasons I recall started with a lot of misfires.

Everyone agrees with you that it’s too early to draw conclusions; that’s why nobody has.
(Less snarky: people are beginning to draw inferences from the very little data Tony lets us have. That seems normal to me)

After watching the post-game interview with Tony, I think preparation had at least some to do with the result yesterday. Tony said that our coaches had done nothing to scout the Mega team, with the warm up yesterday being the first real look at their players. Though I think our coaches were generally aware of the type of European actions they were likely to run. Though, though I doubt we had a green team running those actions in pre-game practices with our coaches helping the players negotiate through them. Finally, while the Mega team apparently did not begin practices until August 1; there’s a good chance that they were practicing a whole lot more than we’ve been because they weren’t traveling or constrained by NCAA rules. And finally, finally, Tony mentioned that it was obvious Mega had scouted what we like to do and prepared for it. So, yeah, no need to panic solely based on yesterday’s game.

Unfortunately sort of knew this once BVP was brought in and Kihei was retained.
Btw Kihei’s reasoning for coming back (NBA aspirations) pretty much guarantees that we’re going to see 30 min+. All hope is lost.

I mean the best player Tony has had at UVA redshirted and didn’t really come alive until the 2nd half of his 2nd season in the program, so I don’t think it’s a bad thing that 2/4 of the 2022 class may not see minutes this season

Good catch; I saw that too. So yesterday worked as de facto scouting. Even if we don’t do much to act on it in terms of game planning. At least our (high IQ) guys will know.

Gosh darn it! I bet the Mega team is practicing right now, and not lounging on the beach and taking boat rides. And how many steps will our players have to climb to get back up from the beach?-- it looks really steep!

Went there on my honeymoon. Beautiful and great all around, but gravel-covered beaches just suck.
