Flaggs best skill is his defense, dude can guard anyone and blocks everything
I like how he can use either hand at his size. Dribbling and finishing around the rim it is tough to not think he is amphibious
What is this … Cooper Flagg - Official Thread?!?
I feel awful about this, but until he does something detestable, I’m going to struggle to root against Flagg (although I’ll still always pull for Duke to lose obviously). Maine just doesn’t produce basketball stars. We need this!
Something something Jalen Warley to make it on topic.
Real dudes from Maine should disown him for picking Duke. Thats my take
And wait 67 years for our next basketball hopeful? I’ll be dead man.
67 seems low
Edit: Duncan Robinson!
Excuse me, Cindy Blodgett’s UMaine career only ended 26 years ago.
Edit - I haven’t seriously looked into it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she was the best college basketball player from Maine ever, and even played for UMaine.
Edit2 - I know Maine isn’t a big state, but even so, there aren’t a lot of 3-time Gatorade players out there.
Also I’m sure Duke will win the preseason championship again.
For sure at a high school level. You think Flagg could do that against a kid like Scheff from Clemson? How about anyone on UConn teams last year?
It’s a big jump from HS to college.
I’m skeptical of any freshman that doesn’t have a Paolo Banchero or Zion body being elite as a freshman.
I think he’ll struggle against beefy centers but I don’t think he’s gonna be asked to guard a Bacot. He’s about as athletic as they get with great length and instincts on D, and most importantly the kid loves to play defense
he can even breathe underwater?!
Stoked to read, but it’s crashing my iPhone. Will check it out at home this weekend.
Yeah… a million embedded youtube videos because I can’t clip these myself isn’t the most friendly. Sorry about that.
No problem at all!
Can he be a respectable 3P shooter? 31-32% per game?
That’s what I’ve been wondering. He made 30% on low volume at least one season. I haven’t found his AAU stats (latest would be 2019).
I wonder if you let him shoot it if he can be at least respectable, resolving some of the issues playing him as a big guard.
He took 7 last year as a 32 game starter averaging 24mpg and there were plenty of opportunities to up that number.
Literally didn’t look to shoot jump shots… like at all. So I think “would he?” is a bigger question than “can he?”
Given that our system has traditionally gone the other way re: reducing the amount of shots non-shooters take, I’d be pretty surprised.
But the question is why did he take 30+ in his prior years? I can’t imagine any guard not wanting to shoot 3s on their own volition. My total guess take is that Hamilton gave him the blinking red light.
I hope but don’t think we will see next year’s big lineup. Warley, iMac, Saunders, Power, Robinson/Buchanan. I’d think it could be very disruptive defensively and seemingly has the shooting to be effective offensively.
