It is huge for Blake, agree. Against Florida when he played so well you just knew that would be tough to maintain. Now he can work and get better at a more ideal pace to your point
Before the season, I said that if we had to rely on Minor scoring on post entries, then “ugh”. Well, that was true, but now that our offense is well beyond “ugh”, it’s nice to have Minor score on post entries!
Lesson for me: ignore the haters, Haney. You’re not pessimistic enough.
Blake more than held his own vs. Middlebrooks. Great to see.
Dante just needs to learn how to box out like Blake and Minor now.
What I love about Dante is his long chest passes on the perimeter to our guys that make the defense move.
Ball is faster than the man and he puts some muscle into it
As opposed to the arcing floater to an open space where our player coming off a pick may or may not be there? I believe that cost us at least 2 turnovers vs. State.
Yes yes. Or the vaunted catch and dribble back toward half court. Dante is an attacker and poses as a threat Whether that threat is real… not always so sure but I like it
In December I was convinced that Minor had never played basketball before, and he was part of an elaborate prank. Well now I’m even more suspicious because I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone turn it around so much so quickly. Tony and Jordan are up to something.
An elaborate prank… that’s a hypothesis I can get behind!
Perhaps JWilly can answer the burning question on the next show. Someone earlier is convinced he was hurt. Doubt that is true, but if so, see no reason for the staff not to acknowledge it.
I’m sure he struggled picking up the defense, but every time he played maybe the first 10 games or so…I kept thinking he looked totally lost on offense. He would run down the court, get to a spot, and then you’d see him swiveling his head around trying to remember where he was supposed to set a screen, and he was not setting good screens at all. I bet at that point the coaches weren’t super focused on coaching him up specifically vs. just installing the general offense with a bunch of new and young guys. Now he looks more comfortable, and he’s probably getting more specific attention, especially with the two-man stuff they are using him in.
Went from 101 to 301 level in weeks. Saved our season thus far.
his defense is glaring. its really bad. watched two replays and he doesn’t box out ever. His ability of not being able to shoot is a big liability as well. Where he can help us is when we need another ballhandler against press or late in the game. I am really hoping Tony gives Eli those minutes…
In December Tony and J Willy both said he had been ‘banged up’ and it was obvious in his movements. Especially if you compare them to now. Dude clearly had some sort of back or leg issue the first month of the season
Harris can’t shoot FTs so having him handle the ball late in a game when we are protecting a lead is not a great idea. Not having him in and letting Rohde or iMac deal with the pressure is also not a great idea. I noticed against NCSU … we had Beeks, IMac and Taine on the floor who could knock down FTs at a “good” clip. That said Beeks (3 for 5) clanked when we needed them.
I think we see Eli tomorrow.
From your fingers to CTB’s ears please!
I hope so or will be bummed for Eli again.
Dante hasn’t been great with FTs so far this year, but he also hasn’t shot very many. At Georgetown, he was pretty solid - about 90% and 75% in his two seasons there. It’s wild that we’re so poor at FTs for the second year in a row despite having an almost entirely new team.
… Are we sure that’s a good thing given the recent circumstances that have allowed Eli on the court?
At tbis point… kidding kidding
