Tony Markel Family Men’s Golf Head Coach Bowen Sargent has been the golf coach for 20 years. Why are we suddenly so good the past couple seasons? There’s obviously a donor to the program. Did we recruit better players or did a few guys improve more than expected all at once? Something else?
Money has helped. Birdwood redesign is top notch and the new golf team facilities are as well. Ben James was a top 5 recruit if not number one and I doubt we would’ve gotten him without those things. Seems like maybe just some good luck too? Like with Bryan Lee going from club team to key player.
Curious if we’ll be able to reload because we’ll lose at least 3 of our top 5 after this season.
