Nah it was literally 90% ISU fans filling the seats
Wright State fan thread if anyone wants to follow it.
is that their only fan board? yeesh
True Fairborn is not technically Dayton, But that’s like saying Xavier is in Norwood not Cincinnati. you gotta be really on the ground to understand that.
Pretty sure… I have a friend who works at the AFROTC detachment there… she told me this is the only active one she knows of.
I have a ton of Celtics 2024 championship videos in my YouTube timeline right now the last 24 hours hopefully that means good things for Hoos…
Is there not a better way of determining tempo that doesn’t make it look like a team that gets a good amount of offensive rebounds (extending possession time) likes to play “slow” on offense? We need a stat for time elapsed before first shot on offense.

Didnt miss a single shot in the primer. Have to shut off that irrational thought that this team is somehow an offensive juggernaut.
I’m not trying to get cocky because I’m going to be nervous with any first round matchup but there is nothing I’ve seen in their tape that remotely scares me. We should be able to suffocate them defensively and our guards should be able to get into the lane.
My only fear is we settle for too many 3’s when we should have no problem getting easy looks
I’ve never been a fan of tempo as a stat.
I get the thought behind it, but it misses the forest for the trees, I think.
Live lookin on @Jerome at the 6min mark of the first half when it’s 22-26 State.

Tell me offensive speed, not “tempo.” I think that would be more useful. Because “tempo” includes defense. It’s weird to treat it as making it easier to upset a team that they make it harder for you to score.
Neither did we! But yeah, these primers typically paint the teams in the best possible light, because that’s how you want to prep for them. I started to get worried about their stretch-5 pick-and-popping against our drop coverage and then I looked up his stats (27% from 3, only takes 4 3s per 100 possessions).
We pose some big (literally) problems for them with our interior defense. They want to batter their way to the rim and we are just bigger across the board than them. Their 6’7” forward is a battering ram against Horizon Conference comp, but he is giving up 2 inches and 20 lbs to TDR. We saw how a smaller guy trying to power through TDR went with Darrion Williams.
Also, NCAAT refs generally swallow the whistle. Our preferred style of physicality will generally be allowed.
What did you expect?
IMHO:
Outcome will come down to the matchup with their PG. Ifour backcourt can defend him, then this becomes an academic enterprise barring externalities.
Not worried. We’re not a system team anymore. We have a bunch of guys who can win 1 on 1 and can afford some of them to be off because we have so many options. And Wright State isn’t going to jack up 35 3s
I’d like to see a stat for shot volume. Something like FGA + 0.5 FTA. This would also factor turnovers so not a pure pace metric but I think that ultimately how many shots you get up is a good measure of what tempo is trying to capture.
Also shot volume differential might be a good one to look at for vulnerability to an upset. I think TB’s teams would have been pretty low on that stat (few offensive boards, few turnovers).
What a very handsome man. Thanks. ![]()
