Agree about Saunders. Not Cofie - at least not yet. Cofie seems more content taking the short jumper facing the basket, or driving.
You’re getting into really iffy territory when it comes to retaining. There’s really no blueprint for that, and it’s something that can only be influenced and not controlled.
I think the Crean era gets overlooked because he bombed big-time at UGA, but he did okay there. It took some time, coming off their NCAA troubles, but his last 6 years, the Hoosiers went to 3 Sweet 16s and won 2 B1G regular season championships.
Vandy is most likely going to tank. I still like Byington though.
I like the way you think.
I watched Minnesota beat Iowa last night, and if a team is playing that bad, I’m not sure how a coach survives it. Here is Iowa’s list, from what I gathered…
DeVries - 1A, 1B, and 1C. If he says no, offer more money
McCollum - most likely
MM guys they have their eyes on
Calhoun
Wardle
Wicks
Henderson
Wildcards
Moser
Forbes
Forbes is interesting. I doubt he’s at risk of being fired at Wake…the way they’re playing lately they might make the tourney. But his name came up last year for openings too. He might be open to bouncing.
If that job opens, perfect for Ryan Odom if UVA doesn’t happen.
I forget if here or in the VIP thread, but I mentioned someone brought up that the head of the NIL collective said in regards to McCaffery retiring their top choice is DeVries.
I think if Wake misses the tournament it’s tenuous. He’s certainly dug them out of the Bzdelik-Manning crater they were in, but he’d at least firmly be on the hot seat if they missed again.
He may want a “reset” on his expectations clock. I have also heard that Wake’s NIL setup is solid but not great- hence why they’ve had to unearth these under the radar transfers that may not have been at the top of others lists.
Anybody remember Lane though?

If Shaka says no, and it comes too DeVries, is Virginia a better job than Iowa, all other things being equal (salary, etc.)?
Generally speaking, like in terms of resources and recruiting ground, yes.
Circumstantially and trying to look from DeVries’s perspective, I don’t think so. I could definitely see a world where DeVries views the Iowa job as more enticing than UVA, given that’s his home state and where the vast majority of his connections lie.
Will add to this though that Iowa’s NIL situation is apparently very dire. Like near where VT’s is.
man Utah State is fun to watch
edit: I would do dirty things for a Seth Trimble, Caleb Foster, Isaiah Coleman, Elijah Saunders, Jacob Cofie, Rohde 6th man 20+ minutes in a Jerrod Calhoun ran offense.
Dirty dirty things. Throw in Chance Mallory and Buchanan still developing we can get him to stick around off the bench as well as Gertrude easing into developing off the injuries. Don’t think Falslev would follow Calhoun east as he’s a Mormon in Utah
Also, their arena is showing its age.
I think Falslev is on his 3rd coach now at Utah St since Odom redshirted him after his 2 year mission. He’s never leaving.
Forbes was a bad fit at Wake and an even worse fit at UVA. Hardest of hard passes.
… but I want to see him throw his face mask angrily at the court!

Plus, one could argue that the current Big10 is in a better, most stable, spot than the current ACC.
It can’t even be argued haha it just is. But having the worst NIL in a great conference is a really bad place to be. VT is showing how bad it is in a mediocre conference
