Sorry, Kendall. Him or herself. Not sure if we have a Kendall Roy or Kendall Jenner situation

Yep, strictly additions, but some had already been added (I posted before I fully read back).

Kendall Gill.

Love the idea of a rolling straw poll… I have a feeling that VCU has picked up several curious hoos as viewers this year.

Aiming way to low. As I have mentioned, we could be one of the best 2/3 jobs out there come spring (IU, Nova?) and if so, we would have our pick of Kendall’s list, assuming they wanted to jump. BUT, I still pretty strongly believe we can get a guy to make a lateral move if the admin/big donors are all in/

The lateral move guys just aren’t that compelling to me beyond Otz, and his other ties to ISU may make that a hard sell.

Current LRA concesus for top five realistic/reasonable coaching cadidates is:
Ron Sanchez
Ryan Odom
Shaka Smart
Alan Huss

and…

Matt Langel?

Meanwhile, this is shitty, but also kind of interesting.

Those are probably the LRA consensus choices at the top of each category:

Interim/internal (Ron)
Mid-major / whatever you call the A-10 and MWC (Odom)
P5 Reach (Shaka)
Long time low major / Ivy success (Langel)
Fast riser (Huss)

I’d add P5 ā€œstep-upā€ and I think the leader is Wes Miller

Anyone have a direct link to the top 50 or so?

I told you it was shitty!

He won’t be considered but I kind of think Steve Alford would do well at UVA.

Why does Wes Miller continue to get basically no consideration? Edited: I see Haney literally just mentioned him.

I think assistant at highly successful program is one too— Luke Murray.

My bet is currently on Odom over everyone though I think. Not necessarily who I want, I just think he will feel like a no brainer come March.

In my opinion, the one guy who could pull a Musselman this year and make a major lateral move that really shakes up the coaching carousel is Mick Cronin.

His buyout is potentially an issue but if he has another down year, UCLA might be fine with him moving along on his own and work something out financially to let that happen. He’s a terrible fit for that job (fish out of water) but he’s a damn good coach, even if he is a salty little fucker.

Anyway, there were rumors that Cronin was interested in Louisville in the spring but the buyout made it a non starter. But could he jump to an Indiana or Villanova if they open this year? He’d fit right in in Philadelphia! Anyway, I wouldn’t rule out a move from him and things could get crazy from there in terms of the domino effect, especially if UCLA could get a guy like Bruce Pearl, who would kill it in LA.

Not saying Cronin for UVa, before anyone suggests that I did. I think that’s a terrible fit also. But I do think he’s a guy who hasn’t been mentioned on this board who could impact the national landscape next spring.

Maybe a domino effect of that could be JWilly getting the VCU job. Or getting the job of the guy who gets the VCU job, if a relatively regional guy.

In a vacuum I actually could get behind Cronin, but he has some pretty serious health issues that would (in addition to the ā€œfitā€ concerns) give me pause. He’s a really good coach.

I think most will agree I should be the next head coach.

I mentioned Cronin a bit earlier. I think he could want to move back East. Buyout drops to 10 mil after 3/31/25, 16 mil before.

I would take Ron or Jason a million times over Cronin (did not know he had health issues so not related there and hope he is ok)
