I like Odom more than Rhoads. As out of box, would love Luke Murray for his offensive genius. It would mean we need to have assistants who can hammer defense and relate - like Kyle
He’s had multiple stops as an assistant, a few with Hurley, and he spent time recruiting at Louisville as well. I’d imagine he’s got a bevy of contacts who would like the opportunity to fill out his staff
Hope he brings back Dino Gaudio.
One thing I’d like to know is how close we are to creating a GM position for the program. If that person is handling player acquisition and payment, then I think you could go with more of an X’s and O’s full on basketball guy. If the HC is going to continue to be the face of all that, though, then I would prefer an assistant from a successful P5 than elevating someone from a mid major.
Dino has to complete some remedial courses on not extorting his supervisors.
That whole sequence is kinda wild and kinda little remembered.
Was very stupid of that AD to push Murray and Gaudio out.
UConn got two nattys and Louisville got an extortion scandal and two years of Kenny Payne
I don’t think he’ll be a candidate here for various reasons (that whole scandal among them), but I wouldn’t be surprised if Chris Mack is a P5 HC again within the next few years

Definitely the over
I think there’s going to be a lot of posts
Many many posts
totally agree
I’m not interested. Please remove me from consideration.
Beard or i walk
I skimmed about 1000 posts and only saw a mention or two of Luke Murray at UConn.
He’d be my first call. Knows the ACC from his time at Lville while their recruiter coordinator. Successful assistant at Xavier and is basically Hurley’s right hand at UConn. Most of the attention and praise the UConn offense gets is attributed to Murray.
edit - @Jake gets what i’m throwing down
Like Odom, intrigued by Murray, but what we really need is for Wally Walker to pull another genius out of his ass. There has to be one more in there.
My preference is for a head coach who’s a) shown he can build a program b) then maintained some consistent success c) while taking a school to unusual heights.
It’s a bonus if he’s under 55 and either has ties to the region or has shown noticeable loyalty to his previous school. So that if he’s successful, there’s a less of a chance he’ll be poached.
If we have a job to offer, I think our list will be much better than this.
This is literally just Shaka Smart at VCU and then Marquette
