Ah, the old “Texas didn’t get him because they passed on him” bit……

Judging from the replies… I don’t think the Texas fanbase is any different than the UVa fanbase… they don’t believe this dude. Haha!

Jacari White… a really good player; good shooter, great scorer, defensive action-generator, but most of all, and probably most important to the Odom Era Hoos, he’s a culture-setter. I love everything about this pick-up.

Now give me a dynamic playmaker, a defense-first guard/wing, and a bruising big, and let’s get after it.

A few interesting nuggets… including that Kyle Guy was the first from Virginia to reach out

That interview read as “I just took the biggest bag” lol. Gotta get used to that I guess.

Seems like a great kid though hope he’s able to meet some of the team soon

Best part was “oh they have the spring game this weekend. Yeall Ill be there”

Cav Connection does great and I already like Jacari

HS player goes one and done in college, second round draft pick at 19, plays well over three seasons and at age 22 goes out and gets the best free agent contract he can get. Good for him.

College player toils four years in the JuCo and low-major conferences, gets a waiver or took a redshirt, now at age 22 gets a big one year deal with a high major and folks think it’s at all different than the first scenario.

Both pouring out their sweat day after day, bodies on the line, playing in front of 15-20k stadiums, on prime time on ESPN, for multi-millionaire head coaches. The sooner everyone realizes if you’re okay with the first, you gotta be okay with the second, the sooner we can all move on.

Agree - they do a nice job and I liked Jacari. I’m not even convinced we dropped a bag. We just told him he doesn’t have to suffer Fargo ND winters anymore

@WFS_HOO you know it wasn’t me because there wasn’t an awkward question about him playing at Hinkle with a 10-minute set up where I explain the move Hoosiers and Jimmy Chitwood

But seriously check out his Butler clips. En fuego

Oh I totally understand all of this and am very happy for Jacari. Just meant it definitely came across as he got an offer too good to pass up and took it. Didn’t have much to say about Odom or how he would fit, and never visited. I don’t know him for that at all, just gotta get used to that type of recruitment now.

Lots of students don’t visit where they eventually go. Often no need for visits . I got accepted early at Virginia, folks told me they were not paying for a higher price school even if more prestigious. Visits are not necessary in many cases

These days, there are virtual tours that students can take that are pretty amazing and can at least give a person a good feel for the grounds/ campus.

Visits have been meaningless for years to be honest. But it’s kinda one of those sacred cows in recruiting. Something you check off the list. It’s not really the skipping visits that’s the issue here. It’s the reason they’re skipping visits, because they were given offers they had to accept during a time window that kept them from being allowed to take visits…which is half the point of the offers.

I guarantee you in 1993 no one had a better visit at UVa than Jerry Stackhouse. And he commited to…

That is a story I’d love to hear if I’m not the only one in the dark about it.
