So this guy and White we only have for one year, is that right? Or do either have additional eligibility?
I’m definitely excited, just feel like I’ll be more pumped when we start landing more guys with more eligibility remaining.

Confirmed no but I think it’s kind of an understood thing. These extra scholarships basically just mean your walk ons get the benefit now.
I love a fired up Dad when he’s OUR fired up Dad
Nvm I miscounted, White will be a 5th year senior so one year left.
Yeah white is basically using his JUCO year to come here. He played 3 at NDSU, since he did the juco year he gets the additional year, using it here.
I actually love bringing in 2 one year guys. Gives Mallory a year to adjust to college as a backup, and we don’t have to test Gertrude with major minutes after a major injury.
Thing is, until contracts are in place, there’s a good chance guys will portal any given offseason. Would I like to get guys with multiple years of eligibility? Without a doubt. However, experienced one year guys are extremely valuable. Especially with this being Odom’s first year and needing to replace literally 10+ guys.
No I’m fine with it. The strategy makes sense. These one year additions will ensure we’re competitive next year and help establish Odom on the map. And landing them now means we can focus our attention on adding the other, arguably more important pieces once the dead period lifts.
I just am going to be much more invested in high schoolers and dudes with multiple years left because I’ll get to watch them for more than a year and they’re going to probably be the core of any actually really good teams we put together (supplemented by some one year dudes for sure). Like being competitive next year is nice but I don’t honestly care that much. The test for Odom is can he make us a really good team in years two, three, and four. These dudes obviously won’t have anything to do with that so, while I’m very happy we got them, I’m just more intrigued/excited by the next round of pieces - the actual foundation for the future.
But should still celebrate this! Not trying to be a downer. It’s great. I’m just ready for the program building pieces too.
I love these pickups. It’s clear to me that this staff understands that if we are going to be able to compete nationally again, then we have to pick up athletes and shooters that can compete on the big stage and get away from players like our past roster that are scared of getting a bruise and taking charge in a game. It’s also clear, as HGN pointed out, that this staff has been ahead of the game in this transfer portal period. More excitement to come, fellow Hoos fans! Enjoy!
Lol
Hey, I know college basketball as we knew it is dead, but we’re still going to have some contributors here for more than a single year. And those guys will probably be my favorites!
Lol
My man don’t bother he’s an unfunny troll
Untill there are actual contracts, there really are no building pieces. At least none you can count on. This is basically pickup ball every year and the goal is to win now
In the game I just watched, 13 of the 16 guys who played were on the same team last year. Now a good number of those had transferred in at some point. But continuity is still the norm on the better teams!
Same for Auburn (6 of 9 players v Florida played last year). Duke is the anomaly because they’re the rare team that still has so many OADs.
Exactly. Everyone knows the current system creates mass uncertainty, but what the highly successful coaches are doing for the most part is assembling talent, getting it to gel for two years at least, and then supplementing with single-year guys. The cores of most great teams are still multi-year guys.
Obviously it’s hard to count on any single player because anyone can transfer at any point, but getting guys to buy into a vision and retaining your best guys is a primary talent of a good coach right now. That’s part of the job.
Good chance that Duke’s dad will join LRA soon.
