Why not? Election day tomorrow.
The Zags are carrying the banner for Team Continuity in an era of multiple power conference 0% returning minutes teams.
Iām watching late night hoops but NBA games.
Clippers vs Spurs, will Clips finally get their first win in their brand new arena? Aināt happened yet this season
Also RD/Suns vs Philly. RD has only had a very quiet 6 minutes so far
Early Zags-Baylor thoughts:
- Yung Nembhard dressing exactly like older Nembhard is hilarious
- The Braden Huff show? Really good to have a big who can pass out of a double when your opponent has committed hard to switching everything and also doubling the post.
- Edgecombe invisible so far, but theyāll probably figure out how to use him.
- Overall Gonzaga looks like a team with a lot of continuity and Baylor looks like a team of newcomers trying to figure things out.
why I picked em
Baylor loses by a million, and Edgecombe only 2-for-11, but one of the FGs was a poster dunk on Mark Fewās son in garbage time for some reason:

@Hooandtrue our guy Kevin Patton with zero minutes in USCās blowout? Injury perhaps?
Other notable statlines:
- Ben Humdinger starts for Illinois and scores 14
- Joshua Jefferson starts for Iowa State and scores 10
- Xavier Amos plays sparingly in Wisconsinās blowout
- Trent Perry logs 10 mins for UCLA in their blowout. Scores 6
- Anthony DellāOrso comes off bench for Arizona and scores 7
Might be redshirt. Didnt play in usc scrimmages
Basketball gambling is like burning money
nailed it
Saw that Matthew Hodge was a DNP through the first two Nova games, but it turns out that he has an eligibility issue:

Not sure what it is exactly.
Kalkbrenner put up 49 for Creighton.
Fishboy stood in his corner and went 3-6 from three (4-7 total). No rebounds, no steals, no assists,
Alex Karaban with a casual 20 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 7 blocks while shooting 78% from the floor and 71% from 3.
Traudt is not good
Trent Perry had 6 pts in 12 minutes Monday night. Sigh.
So⦠the lesson of Traudt that applied to Groves last year that applies to Power this year is that tall, one-dimensional stretch 4ās sound great on paper and oftentimes get lofty rankings and even in HS/AAU competition can use their size against smaller teenagers to look good rebounding/defending/scoring inside. But then in HM ball theyāre not effective banging inside, are too one-dimensional offensively and a liability defensively, and really donāt offer enough besides shooting to justify a place on the floor for a top team.
Some of them of course are so elite that it works out (Hauser), or others can redshirt and build themselves into well rounded players by their 3rd/4th/5th years (Huff), but oftentimes itās just a skillset that doesnāt translate the way you think it might.
The only stretch 4 that had anything close to a meaningful role in our '14-'19 stretch was Evan Nolte, a niche 6th man who at least compensated by playing his absolute guts out sometimes (his transition chasedown steal, for instance). But those teams utilized swiss army knife defenders (Akil, Darion, Zay), wing forwards (Dre), and true power forwards (Gill, Key) at the 4-spot to dominate, not tall skinny 3-point specialists.
Tony had fallen too in love with recruiting those guys of late, and Iāve been on the āPower belongs in a 6th man roleā bus since he committed. Hereās hoping Sanchez eventually figures that out, and the next coach builds his rosters accordingly.
Agreed. And I have often wonder that Tony further compensated with more offense at the 4 by biasing to more defensive centric guards (especially after umbc).
That combination of one dimensional defensive guards (who are poor shooters and not aggressive scorers but elite defensively) and one dimensional stretch 4s has been our problem since 2019 more than system, pace, etc.

One of the reasons Iām a bit skeptical of UConn this year
You have to be tall, rangey and have effective lateral movement.
Groves, Traudt, and Power move sorta well for big men. But I donāt think well enough to exploit big men consistently and finish. And they havenāt really shown ability to exploit the smaller guard mismatches with their height either.
Iād argue that Sam was actually pretty effective at exploiting size and speed. He just struggled defensively (but improved).
Kon seems more like a Sam. Cofie may yet be our best version of that on a UVA squad if his shooting is for real.
