On the MWC, it seems like it’s a loss for teams on the bubble. NM is in. Boise St is maybe NOW in, and CSU could be the bid thief. Bad news for UNC and Indiana and Texas and maybe maybe (double maybe) VCU. We shall see… Or maybe the bracket was done yesterday at 4pm and the committee has all gone home and isn’t paying attention anymore.
I am reupping my suggestion that the committee should just sort their spreadsheet by WAB and spend the extra time golfing. The bracketing/matchup rules should be computer programmable because they are pretty clear.
Princeton plays Yale at 11am today in the Ivy semis. Any chance Mitch Henderson goes on a run and gets further than any of our candidates? That would be funny…
Eamonn moved VCU to “Should be in” but also has UC San Diego as “work to do”.
Seems to me that there’s still a lot of scenarios if all of VCU, Boise State, and UC-SD don’t win their conference tourneys. Apparently, there are more mid-major reps on the committee this year.
VCU (25-6, 15-3; NET: 32, SOR: 49): The Rams, as is their wont, cruised past a solid but overmatched A10 foe Friday — in this case St. Bonaventure, whose defensive system tends to encourage opponents to launch as many 3s as they like. VCU obliged, though it shot just 9-of-32 from deep. It still won going away. We’ve bumped the Rams up to should be in, because we don’t think they’re in the genuine bubble mix, but let’s see how things go against Loyola Chicago tomorrow (and elsewhere on the bubble) before we consider the possibility of a lock.
HAte what Fears (MSU) did there. Tried to draw the foul rather than get the shot. Glad the refs didn’t fall for it. Wiscy to Big Ten final
Also, I hate flipping around to these end game scenarios and 2/3 of the time it’s refs belaboring out of bounds calls. Just stop. Enough. I’m going to hire @AnonymooseHoo and try to convince a Federal court judge it’s an antitrust violation
