šŸ€ Outside the ACC - 2024 Season

I personally think he’s at about the best moment in years to potentially move on, but I’m told they’ve become increasingly C-ville centric in recent years and might surprise by being willing to stay on under CRS (and any possible transition) so I dunno what to think.

I was told during Austin’s recruiting that, after he visited Liberty with Chance and heard about all the social rules, he’d rather give up college hoops than go there, lol.

Listening to Titus’s podcast, and he’s falling in love with Tahaad Pettiford. I’m still annoyed he went to Auburn

Fiddler cooking for Michigan St. From the same conference as Rohde

8-8 from the ft line

Also Xavier Booker has to be the worst top 5 recruit out of HS ever.

Maybe Tony was right not to offer because he thought he was soft

Also Aiden Mahaney has not been very good to start the year

I liked the idea of Aiden Mahaney more than the actual player if that makes any sense at all.

On a somewhat similar note (guys we almost landed), Xavier Amos is not logging many minutes in the cupcake portion of Wisconsin’s schedule. Not shocking since he’s a project but probably not someone who was a serious ā€œmissā€ for us given Cofie’s emergence and landing Power + Saunders

Igor lit up Montana. Unlikely he would have stayed all four years but remember when we played Kody Stattmann over him?

I was lamenting how UVA’s only played two games, then I checked and noticed there are a bunch of other teams in the same boat (more teams have played 3 or more, but lots of teams are still at 2).

And then I saw poor Fresno State is the only school in the country to have finished only a single game. Their season didn’t start until Friday (they beat SacState 64-57) and their second game (against UCSB) just started.

Guy who sits next to me at work is a pretty big Wisconsin fan and I asked about Amos the other day and his initial response was ā€œwho?ā€ Which doesn’t make me feel like we’re missing much.

There were signs with Mahaney. 38% from the field and less than 3 assists per game wasn’t really what this team needed.

The Dai Dai jury is still TBD, but yea, Mahaney has not been overly impressive, and Malik Mack is avg 11 pts 4 asst, but 4 TO and only shooting 22% from 3 in 33mpg. That is the comparison I’ll watch as the year goes along.

At PF, it’s still early, but I think we hit a HR with Saunders compared to the possible others. I think we’d all take Saunders today over Amos, Traudt, Igor., and Joshua Jefferson who is avg 8 pts and 5 boards in 22mpg at Iowa St. Of course Power is still a major TBD.

Jefferson is the one that will be as good or better than Saunders imo. Question is how would Saunders be on a top 10 team with more talent and experience? I’d guess 8 and 6 or something along those lines. Jefferson a better rebounder and passer but maybe not as much of a three point threat. Will be interesting to watch

If we’re looking at ā€œguards who got awayā€, have to include Trent Perry, 5.7 ppg, 1.3 apg, 0.7 topg, 1.0 stlpg, 25% FG%, 33% 3P% through three games, all off the bench, 18 mpg. UCLA lost to New Mexico in a neutral site game in Las Vegas.

London Johnson: yet to get off the bench for the Maine Celtics in the preseason. That’s still my theoretical PG.

I think we all liked the idea of beating out UConn, Kentucky, etc. for a player more than the actual player.

I thought he went to Turkey? Or is that some other former G-League Igniter?
