You can have markets where participants have eligibility criteria to meet. There’s nothing inherently illegal about that. But it might be illegal in certain situations. If you need to know more than that ask @AnonymooseHoo because he just stayed up all night studying this stuff.
This guy should be celebrated. I’ve asked around wondering if he’d transfer the last 2 years. Can only imagine the back channel contacts he’s gotten from college coaches. Article says St. Joe’s pays him well but I doubt it matches the mid to high 6 figures he’d get in the portal.
I think I saw he got like 150k and a car last year from St. Joes
St. Joe’s a plausible AWilly landing spot? I guess TBD depending on how live periods go?
Austin visited St. Joseph’s last fall. There’s a pic out there of J Willy wearing St. Joe’s gear for the photoshoot haha
fair enough. There are pics of me somewhere smoking Js, but they aren’t my LinkedIn picture. Same difference.
Headline reads like a Geico add
Lol clown show.
Reads like an email sent by Bobby Hurley’s agent/publicist.
Like a college hoops Hard Knocks?
I’m sure this will somehow result in Duke getting a ton of more free positive publicity.
The transfer portal, but for schools trying to leave their contracted MTEs:
Cornel Parker’s son is headed to ODU
Cornel is who I want Warley to be. Great defender on ballhandling and scoring guards, not a shooter but can get to the rack and make things happen (career 27% from 3, but averaged nearly 4 assists per game his last year, and 3.5 his junior year).
Fwiw, the St John’s Ivy transfers lost their case to try to get a 5th year. They were trying to get a 5th year even though they didn’t play the Covid year.
This seems like a good outcome.
Agreed. I think only shenanigans could have ensued from that TRO being granted.
Though it would have been really funny to see a school try to enroll a guy in a MD/PhD program to keep him in classes and on their team for forever, if eligibility limits were somehow removed by their case.
