I’m literally looking at the word going ā€œcutterā€ or ā€œkah-tarā€? Heck if I know

Apparently, education city is around since late 90s, and vcu has a thing there. Maybe I remember us talking to them about it. Or maybe it fell through.

In any event, yes, let’s try to dig up the lawn and see if there’s lithium deposits under it. Just spitballing

I assume we’re 100% out of the Ament running barring a miracle run from the Sanchize

Apparently the answer is to make a sequence of sounds that are hard to do well unless you grew up speaking Arabic:

This one came up for me today at work: are Turkey and Türkiye pronounced the same?

I’m gonna go with ā€œnoā€ based on this answer that has a charming detour into the origin of the name of the bird:

On a different timeline, we are competing to come up with ridiculous nicknames for this guy…

@AdventiveQuasar i think the answer is tur-key-yeh (basically) but I think most people are just saying Turkey still?

Also, the bird thing is fascinating. I love anecdotes like that

I give up, who has the Qatar money

Tongue in cheek, I think, but I did see a stray unsourced TikTok video that alleged that A&M has Qatari funding for NIL. There are some articles worrying about A&M’s Qatar campus being a vehicle for obtaining info on nukes (?).

Doha is freaking awesome if you’ve ever been there. Stay at the Marriott across from the airport.

No… Turkey decided a few years ago to be offended if you didn’t pronounce it the Turkish way… I know as I had 3 teammates on my German soccer team.

Fortunately the way to pronounce it in Turkish is the same way you pronounce it in German… it’s pronounced Toor-KAI

I’m almost certain the Turkish pronunciation is Toor-key-eh. What you wrote out is the German pronunciation. Could you have been playing with German-Turks who’ve adopted that pronunciation though?

Source: Lived in both Turkey and Germany for two years a piece.

Totally possible… they told us it was legit how we pronounced it. They may have just been saying that to keep the peace.

Nate Oats villain origin story - was at Wisconsin. Tony was responsible for hiring the grad assistants, when his dad was coach. Nate got turned down. The rest is history (but let’s have Soddie put it on the chalkboard just in case)
