So apparently Nebraska volleyball is the biggest underachieving program in college sports? How is a program with that level of support advantage over their competition not the best in the country? Is it the losing culture from the rest of their AD holding them back?
I can speak with some authority on Nebraska because my college roommate was from Lincoln, and now teaches in Omaha.
When I went to visit him, we toured the Gerald R. Ford Birthplace Museum, Mutual of Omaha, and the Roller Skating Hall of Fame. And, of course, we made the short trip down to the road to Wahoo, Nebraska.
So anyone who says there is nothing going on in Nebraska is … pretty much on target. Let me put it this way: We had to cross the border to Iowa to have a wild time for his bachelor party.
Field of Dreams?
" Build your salad out of the back of one of our two Model-T trucks that do double duty as salad bars."
…Im sold
Maybe it’s free beer at the volleyball games…
Could be any West Texas town as well.
So back on topic…i thouught we were supposed to get a final verdict on expansion? Is that a good sign that we haven’t? Good being no expansion.
I think I read tomorrow. Or not.
I think they’re meeting tomorrow morning to decide if they want to attempt to bail out the Titanic with a coffee cup.
Well UNC is against it

UNC’s Board of Trustees just released a statement opposing ACC expansion.
“The economics of this newly imagined transcontinental conference do not sufficiently address the income disparity ACC members face.”
They also cited travel distance as a serious concern.
Uhhhhh, wasn’t it their guy who was the “commissioner” that negotiated the deal everyone now complains about? Just asking for a friend.
The real answer for the ‘holes is that nothing can address the income disparity other than destroying the ACC and having only 4 to 6 of the programs absorbed into the B1G and the SEC. At least adding the other teams keeps the process moving. Travel costs are real, but at the end of the day I honestly think it’s a red herring.
Or football goes to a National league of 8 divisions each with 8 teams for a 16 team playoff ala NFL and then the other sports re-constitute along historical conference lines. Anything other than that is treading water in the middle of the Atlantic.
Since no expansion seems to be the verdict I hope the implosion can happen sooner than later. I hate the idea of a 13 year slow death of the conference.
First instinct - this means expansion is dead
Second instinct- none of this makes sense. UNC will vote yes tomorrow morning.
Third instinct- I have no idea
I am going to enjoy UNC being a second tier B1G school with no voice and no influence.
What a bunch of preening self absorbed cheating hypocritical ass clowns.
The ACC has been dead for 20 years. But every conference has been dead for a good while. Rutgers in the B1G etc.
I hear you. It’s not the eight or nine team family it was prior to the 2002(?) expansion.
That said there are some rivalries I like in the conference. I was interested in seeing if this could keep the conference working for a little while longer. But it is what it is. The inevitable is FSU and Clemson leaving in 5-7 years. When they go any cache that the ACC has in football is gone, and whether we like it or not football controls a lot of the perception of what tier the conference is. Without them we’re not too far above the AAC. I know Clemson and FSU would leave eventually even if expansion happened, but I thought that with the increased incentive money that was being discussed and the easier road to the football playoffs, maybe the band would stay together a little longer.
Saying no to expansion is saying no to the one easy route to increased television revenue for the conference. It’s a kill shot to the ACC, and now I just hope the demise is quick and not a 13 year drawn out soap opera.
Sorry Fresh, that’s on the eastern end of the state.
Btw it’s kind of funny the statement about trans continental travel and the impact it has on college athletes, as most major conferences are now stretched from coast to coast. Is this showing their preference for an SEC invite? Haha, pretty sure they will be fine traveling to UCLA and Eugene if the Big 10 calls.
I think UVA will ultimately make the cut so to speak in one of the two super conferences, but what’s the point. I will keep watching because I am a sucker, but I won’t like it.
I agree, I think expansion is really the only small chance to preserve some old associations. Basically hold on and then try to convince some of the other ex PAC teams in a few years to move again if things go well to form a western pod. Maybe survive one more round of musical chairs and outlast the Big XII. But the end game appears almost inevitable.
It will be interesting to see if things go full circle again in the long run like they did with the Southern conference breaking up. Unless football becomes separate I am not sure if NFL style conferences will work long term for the other sports.
