Pre-season 2022

Be the change you want to see in this world. Spam please. I know it probably won’t change anything. But at least it will let recruits see that we have to fight to get the access we non billionaire donors deserve, and maybe one of them will be like “Ill only commit if you stream the game so that people can watch the hoos”.

Reece vs Kihei. UVA knows what it is doing.

The coaches are starting to make me way more confident about this season. Every time they open their mouths it’s positive. Night and day compared to the last 2-3 preseasons. It reminds me of 17/18. Not saying we are going to win the ACC. But not saying we aren’t going to either.

Yeah I think others have noticed that too. Last year in interviews and in the Coach WIlly show you basically knew from their remarks that last year’s team was an NIT team at best. A lot of optimism. New talent. An actual veteran core as opposed to just Reece and Kihei as the only notable returners. Reece and Kadin prime for that jump.

Maybe it was is best that Kihei came back…

Gotta say I really love the way Fish moves. He’s so coordinated and smooth for a 6’9” but he isn’t scared to body up Caffaro or rebound in traffic. He may not have the first year impact that Mac has, but over the next few years he may end up having his jersey retired. Really love his game.

Y’all are way too optimistic all of a sudden. I’m downgrading my expectations for the season to “slightly less fcked than the football team but still fcked”

Its going to be ugly when we struggle mightly with Baylor and Houston as we gel/grow in November while football is sucking at the same time

How do you expect people will take losing to Baylor by 8-12 and then beating Illinois in the consolation? The most likely scenario imo

One win in Vegas is a positive outcome.

Most likely outcome is 0-2. We are a fairly distant 4th in talent among those 4 (maybe close with Illinois). Some early season cohesion from experience and Italy may help.

I’m getting more of a positive vibe from the clips. Lots of freshmen…

I don’t agree with this if McKneely and Traudt are in the rotation. Illinois is massively overrated heading into the season and I think they are comfortably the 4th best team in the event. And even taking my opinion out of it they are only two spots ahead of us on Torvik.

Also don’t think UCLA is a world beater either. If I had to group the teams by my expectations it would be

-Legit top 1-2 seed and national title contender: Baylor.
-Solid 3-5 seed: UCLA and UVA.
-7-10 seed: Illinois.

I strongly suspect we will go 0-4 in our big non-con games

So you aren’t feeling the vibes from the coaches

Illinois is a bigger wildcard and have almost no continuity. But I think they have better experienced talent and (Mayer, Shannon, Hawkins) and Clark is the highest ranked young player.

Underwood has a tougher time putting them together than Tony will, but they have a higher ceiling.

(I really don’t know how to peg us this year, but true to form, I think I’m pessimistic compared to the consensus. The noncon schedule does us no favors. It’s all must wins and tough to wins)
