agreed. and that takes time. What strikes me is that specifically for this event, it would take an extremely low effort to mobilize our student section and get 500-1000 additional attendees, maybe even encourage them to stand/cheer like a normal game for a bit so we have a sense of atmosphere.
do the cheerleaders or dance team ever come? Particularly this week with the football team on a bye…
Sorry that my B/W complaints are ruining those awesome substantive hoops conversations that you guys otherwise would MOST DEFINITELY NOT be having because our staff grants no offseason access, with the exception here and there for boot-licking journalists (talking to you, Rothstein).
Oh man board will love this: “Kihei surprised us coming back. We thought he was done after four years but he said he wanted to come back.”
I’ve always thought he wanted to come back.
Tony said something similar to Jeff Goodman, for the Almanac:
“I was surprised when he told me he wanted to come back at the end of the year and use
his extra COVID year,” Bennett said of Clark. “But he loves college.”
Sometimes a parent simply has to say no for the sake of the family.
Skins always knows
“I think Reece had a case to be ACC player of the year on the defensive side. I don’t remember who got it though.”
All these Blue-White streaming complaints definitely detract from Dave’s opinion posts on whether Kihei should be allowed east of the Mississippi.
“Mark Williams is trash and I didn’t think he did anything of note at Duke” - TB
IIRC (been out of school half a decade now) they are asked not to promote when there is a football game but as you said that shouldn’t be an issue this year
Yes TB yes!
Tony: “McKneely will play a lot because he can shoot and play 2 guard and we need an actual 2 guard to play 2 guard.” … "especially in our offense where we shoot a lot of jump shots and rarely get to the free throw line. "
Tony mentioned taine first in terms of which of the returners outside Reece and Kadin has made a big jump. #tainebelievers our validation is here.
Has been working his taine off
Thanks for posting. Listening, I get the sense that:
- He feels pretty good about the team this year
- He really dislikes NIL/Transfer Portal world and is trying to figure out if he can compete at a high-level with that around. And if not I could see him hanging it up. You could hear his voice change when he talked about it… a big worry for sure.
2025/2026. McKneely and Traudt’s hypothetical senior year.
Agreed. He’s not usually that ‘glowing’. Last year all he did was talk down the chances.
And more agreed on Tony. I actually think he has challenged himself a bit in order to prove that he can do it his way in this new era. Of course, as he says at the end, that could backfire, because if he sees that he can’t compete at that top level anymore in this environment, he’s gone. What’s very clear is he doesn’t like NIL or the transfer portal, so our hope has to be that it settles down some. I could see him getting pretty discouraged of any of the freshmen left after this year. He talks about how big next year is for them.
I guarantee one will leave if he doesn’t make a concerted effort to play them a bit more and have heard through the grapevine “he understands that this year.”
I would rather take some Ls than have another large transfer year with transfers trashing the program on Instagram or in Inside Carolina interviews
