Great hire, runs great offensive and defensive schemes. Able to make Halftime adjustments as needed and a steady influence in crunch time at the end of games. His players typically reflect his composure. Excited for the upcoming season :blush:

Iā€™m with you I like the hire. Odom runs good stuff and has shown a ton of scheme flexibility over his years as a coach, and has never left a full time head coaching job with a cumulative winning % over .600 at that program. Short and sweet: dude wins games and will do it however he has to.

Iā€™m pleased with Coach Odom, he is a high floor and good ceiling coach at minimum, and potentially offers an elite ceiling. Iā€™m not sure if he will make us a regular top 10 team again, but I donā€™t think any candidate (even zombie Wooden) would be considered likely to do that. He gives us a chance at that though, and is a good catch for us. Iā€™m excited to see who he brings in, who he keeps, and how good we can be next year and beyond. Time for the Odom era!

I think the honeymoon for Odom is over. Just not seeing the progress. Hasnā€™t proven he can recruit at UVA. If his seat isnā€™t hot it is certainly getting uncomfortably warm.

If he doesnā€™t land a recruit by end of day tomorrow, Iā€™m done with him.

Iā€™ve seen a number of people mention they donā€™t anticipate another coach being able to take uva back to a consistent place in the top 10. Iā€™m curious why so many folks feel that way, if anyone has the time to share their thoughts?

  1. That doesnā€™t happen for most any team anymore given the portal and NIL
  2. Weā€™ve never had it except one five year period with a hall of fame coach under totally different circumstances

That said, my hope is we are consistent top 30-40 and hit elite every few years. Thatā€™s realistic and possible.
