These are the power 5 players Iām keeping tabs on ooc (guys coaches may have recruiting connection to whose coaches are on retirement watch or about to be fired)
Mouhammed Sylla from Georgia Tech would be a solid portal add to our front court rotation. Will probably have heavy suitors after Stoudamire is fired in the offseason
two mid major kids who are more likely to go pro than enter the portal: Tyrone Riley and LāAmeal Etang.
Surprised both returned to their mid major schools instead of transferring; LāAmeal apparently got paid big to stay at Dayton and Riley actually entered the portal before returning to San Francisco (this move actually made me nervous at the time of Malik Thomas also pulling out of the portal and getting paid to stay home)
Dunno, heās real Izzo-y as a player (hard charging forward who canāt shoot). Side note, this yearās MSU team seems poised to shoot even less from 3 and worse from 3 than last yearās team, continuing Izzoās trend since 2020 to move away from shooting the 3 (relative to D1 average).
Portal watch November 14th action (lots of good games tonight like Arizona UCLA and Gonzaga Arizona St).
Badalau the Italian(?) for Rutgers who we were involved with had a really rough opening game vs Rider but then a really good 2nd game vs Maine. Will see what game 3 looks like.
Leon Bond vs Furman.
Anthony Robinson vs Iowa.
UCF has John Bol who would be an interesting backup center target.
Georgia vs Georgia Tech: Kareem Stagg vs Mohammed Sylla
David Punch vs Michiganās huge front court will be a good audition for him.
Jacob Cofie (albeit against weak competition) has had a really strong start to the season.
Also Rowan Brumbaugh is still on my periphery. Between Rowan, Donald Hand Jr, Finley Bizjack, and Mason Falslev it would be cool for at least one of them to pop in the portal for us.
The āsee, Haney, redshirting is awesome, look how good they are as 5th year seniorsā all-stars. Aka, top 100 guys who voluntarily redshirted (before there was a financial incentive)
