Can swimmers hear when the coach yells though…?

They could hear that guy. He died a few years back. I think he was 92. My friend’s son at age six had been trying for months to master diving off blocks. He finally got it and his parents rushed over to the side of the pool to congratulate him. All he said in a hopeful voice was “did Lonnie see it?”

My daughter wears waterproof headphones so the coaches can talk to them directly while underwater

My team got awarded a penalty the other night in our rec league game because the other team’s keeper (who clearly was new to the position) didn’t realize the ball was still in play after he picked it up near the end line. Thinking he was giving it to a defender to take the goal kick for him (or something, I don’t know), he tossed it into his defender’s hands and the dude instinctively caught it. Handball in the box.

Weirdest penalty my team has ever gotten, haha. Won 1-0 despite being down a man and probably 10 years older on average than the other team.

Haha problem with hockey is you can only play free pick up when the lakes are frozen. And if you don’t live far enough north for a solid freeze, free pickup doesn’t exist. Becomes a more and more expensive sport the further south you go

Ha. Maybe thats why there are so many good Russians and Canadians.

Funny one. Only sport my dad said no to me for was coming home from school in first grade to sign up for hockey when we lived in Chicago…

I have heard the sticks arent cheap!

My children will not be allowed to play hockey. The time is worse than the cost.

As I have heard. And been told

They aren’t but they are cheaper than the rest of the sport lol

Soccer teams were trying to waste as much time as possible? That’s surprising

Good stuff last night. My oldest sons former HS, St Peters Prep, played in the county finals here vs traditional powerhouse Kearny NJ (Soccertown USA) and won 2-1. They played the game at Red Bull Stadium in Harrison Nj. Very cool for the kids and great crowd

Bigger crowd than a UVA football game. Also…more winning.

Also found great prospect for Virginia soccer in a few years…

Agreed. I loved participating in Bruce Arena’s summer camp when I was a kid. Erik Imler was my counselor.
