4-1 Pitt still in the top of the 4th. Bases loaded one out jam for Blanco, he gets a groundball to Arroyo at 1st who steps on the bag for the out but the throw home is just late as the runner gets under the tag.
Blanco now exiting the game, Pitt still has 2nd and 3rd in the frame with two outs.

6-1 Pitt as Koenen gives up a two out, two-RBI double. Bullpen again.
7-1 Pitt heading bottom 6. Pitt’s starter had an ERA above 7 coming into this game and has completely shut us down.
7-2 Pitt in the bottom of the 6th, Becker with an RBI double to score Hanson.

8-2 Pitt in the top of the 7th as a balk call on Jack O’Connor scores the runner from 3rd.
Our biggest enemy this season has been ourselves.

Wells lines out to the shortstop. Godbout retreats back, runner on 2nd and one down for Nunnallee.
Nunnallee on a full count fouls out to the 3rd baseman. He swung at ball four the pitch before. Runner on 2nd and two down for Didawick.
Didawick blasts a two-run HR just over the RCF wall. 8-7 Pitt. Nobody on and two down for Hanson.

Pitt wins 8-7 to even up the series and improves to 18-15 (5-9) on the season. UVA falls to 19-14 (8-9).

Nuts. When we got the dinger, I was hopeful but its always rough to have the bases empty.
Yeah we showed good fight, but can’t put yourself in a hole like that and expect a win. Tough one, gotta regroup and take the series tomorrow.
