A good example of this would be the game at Syracuse in 2019. Boeheim was isolating Tyus Battle on Clark, and he was abusing him in the paint in the first half. Clark sat nearly all of the second half (he played only 16 minutes that game), and Battle struggled afterward. Admittedly, Virginia didn’t blow the game open until after the 10 minute mark in the second half, but Coach Bennett had the luxury of using Clark as a situational player that year. In subsequent seasons, that wasn’t the case.

I saw Dre in Spain the summer before his RS year. He didn’t look like Dunn. He was arguably already the best of the freshmen.

Yep, definitely. Except I don’t agree that he hasn’t had the luxury in all of the seasons since.

In 2020, agreed, absolutely no luxury at all. Last year… would mostly agree although there were plenty of times with Reece, Armaan, and Stattman (like the Wake game that year) where the added size was relevant and good and the offense was humming - we could have gone to that more when things called for it, like against St. Bonaventure.

In 2021 and this year he absolutely could have been more aggressive about pulling away from poor matchups, though, at least IMO.

We all assume Traudt is going to Creighton and we have seen the lost list of Kadin suitors but no mention of any schools that may have an interest in Papi.

Those of you close to the program, have any schools reached out to the big man?

Also, where do we predict Shedrick ends up. I’ll start by saying he’s not good enough to play at Duke and become a starter there.

I mean a single rich donor did build JPJ so there is money for sports, football is more complicated, we’ve been a mediocre team for so long and have no chance of ever winning a championship so why donate money to it

Lively is going to the pros and I have no reason to believe he gets drafted but is Lively better than Shedrick? Nothing really shows me he is.

He is 1000% better than shedrick. Neither would bring anything to the offensive end in NBA but lively is a difference maker in defense.

If Tony could ever get a freshman like Lively, he would play immediately and make our defense so much better

Hoos were down by 3 with 16:10 left when Clark left for good. Hoos immediately went on a 13-3 run over the next 4:30. and 32-6 over 11 min stretch

You mean the #1 recruit in the nation? Definitely.

Yea that got a chuckle from me - as did that entire Succession episode. Not to start a separate dialogue but that was an absolute masterclass of comedic writing. Haven’t belly laughed like that in quite some time

The one caveat to that might be it might hurt us in the future. Eventually the ACC seems doomed to break up or at least break down into a lesser league. To appeal to any better league football needs to be better. If not the influx of money pouring into other sports will crush everything even the non revenue sports. Already we see that in Lacrosse where the BIG 10 has 6 of the top 25 teams now. So we need football to get a better deal in the not too distant future. But no we will never win a championship in football.

ACC football is not getting a better deal anytime soon. It’s just not a good fall Saturday product compared to the alternatives and it is falling further behind. Clem is pretty panicked about it. They MUST have a top15 football program or stuff starts sliding off across the board for them.

Is 6 more than they used to have? Don’t only like 6 ACC schools even play lax?

How blunt do we think end-of-season player meetings are with regard to Tony’s intentions on playing time?
I’ve always imagined the conversation with guys went something like this: “We want to see you succeed here and think you’ve got some work to do. It’s our intention to go out looking for a transfer at your position. We hope you’ll stay but understand if you decide to go.” In my head, guys like Justin Mckoy knew that Tony was going to go out looking for Jayden Gardner. Morsell knew we were going to look for a scorer like Armaan Franklin. Maybe ditto Shedrick and Traudt. It’s ultimately because they know exactly where they stand with Tony, and it’s not exactly ideal.

5 total. 3 are ranked in the top 4 and UNC is 12th lol Cuse has been a mess lately

A post was merged into an existing topic: 2023 Men’s Lacrosse

There were 6 the years after Syracuse joined, but before Maryland left. Might’ve only been 1 year now that I think about it.
