UVA Basketball 2022-2023 Post Mortem Thread/Transfer out thread

He would have had his chance to earn minutes.

Traudt is gone for reasons. But staff needs to adapt. What did having Traudt on the roster for 1 year cost in recruiting new talent? Future roster management?

Yeah, yeah you can’t predict these kids transferring but you do need to be sensible about the new realities.

New reality: can’t assume ANYBODY will be on the team for more than 2-3 years. Players are like timeouts: use ‘em or lose ‘em. Other new reality: key employee retention increasingly important part of the job.

Don’t know where to share this, but… this is pretty cool

I’ve never heard of this either (and how is it decided?) but it’s awesome we had her cut down the net so now we have that great photo for this

Does Tony volunteer for these interviews? Do they pay him or is it some sort of obligations?

His first sentence was basically- “Lets get to the poiint!”.

Seems like a good enough place for this.

Excerpt (ACC):

Kihei Clark from Virginia had a team-high seven assists for the West

Justyn Mutts from Virginia Tech had a double-double for the East with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Nate Laskewski from Notre Dame (12), Seth Lundy from Penn State (12) and D’Moi Hodge from Missouri (11) all scored in double figures for the East. Demetre Roberts from Fairleigh Dickinson led the East with five assists.

Mutts is way better than most Tech fans realized. They just constantly shat on him but I think he was easily their most important player

This is probably true but at the same time, Young didn’t get enough out of him.

Left out the best quote:

Khei Clark from Virginia had a team-high seven assists for the West.

I can’t imagine how bad their defense would be without Mutts.

Talking about Jwilly. I just met he and his wife today in DC at a restaurant I was at. Completely random! @DFresh11 he was cool. I told him his son needs to play for us in a couple of years.

What did he say👀?

For some reason this picture wouldn’t load properly. He just kind of laughed at it. His wife took the picture and were about to eat so I didn’t give him there 3rd degree about why he was here…

Oh I also mentioned- without naming anybody specifically that there was a lot of activity in the portal…our team is going to be very different next year.

No idea where to put this but deserves a proper roasting, so it’s here.

Explains Louisville’s offense.

Also, not sure “the analytics” would think an only-semi contested shot would be a bad shot with 1 second left. The best shot you can get with 20 seconds left is a lot different than what’s best available with one second left.

If you need only one or two points to win a game, it’s not clear why you would take a 3-point shot:
