Woof. Haven’t seen us play this bad in person in a loooooong time. Late on rotations, not moving the ball with purpose on offense, just a rough night all around.
Don’t worry though, I’ve seen what needs to be done and won’t be attending any more mid season tourney games. My jinx is strong as hell apparently lol.
Just gonna be one of those times gotta learn as much as you can from a beat down, burn the tapes, and move on.
They’re playing their A game, and we’re playing a solid D+ or so lol it’s basketball. This happens to even the best teams. Everyone take a deep breath. We knew we’d take a few lumps in the non con playing so many young players heavy minutes. March matters most, that’s when we’ll be at our best. We will learn from this.
They’re still not great. We just punished ourselves with double down on the post doubles and hedges where they have punished us mightly on top of a great shooting night for them and a poor shooting night for us on our open looks.
Also I’m not panicking on the season. Still think we can get to a good place. But this is bad bad bad tonight outside of the first 5-6 minute of the second half. There’s no sugar coating it
Wisconsin has been hitting their open threes. And the ones they missed, they rebounded. We haven’t. Tone was set when our lottery pick bricked two wide open threes in the first five minutes, and we went one-and-dunn. They sagged off him the whole game after.
Hotter take: we’ve settled into being a program with a 4/5 seed ceiling and bubble team floor (meaning we’re still a solid program). Waiting for a post-Covid team that doesn’t ever get blown out and is similarly as good as those teams. Outside of Perrentes’ last year, I honestly don’t remember getting blown out during that run. Seems to happen much more often the last few seasons
Was just about to say this, very reminiscent vibe. Doesn’t help that it’s like 70% Wisconsin fans in here either, not sure what happened with the allotment but I’m a bit disappointed in our turnout.
