Yeah, not to be morbid but I was looking at the numbers the other day. The number of kids killed in vehicle accidents (in the car, hit as pedestrians, or as cyclists) each year now is less than 1/4 what it was in the '70s (3500-4000/year in the 70s vs 800-900/year now) before DUIs were considered a real crime. Things were gigantically more dangerous then, but people didn’t talk about it so it wasn’t viewed as more dangerous.
