Have they run any offensive sets. Iām not a great Xs and Os guy but seems a little haphazard to me

VCU really needed to have a good shooting performance in order to win this one, so far 4-16 from 3.
BYU is more talented than them with a couple of big time athletes in the frontcourt, and runs really good offense. Won 9 of 10 coming into this game. Was always gonna be an uphill battle for the Rams.

Iāve watched several VCU games this year and my biggest concern is the lack of any discernable offensive scheme. Iām sure theyāre doing something, but I canāt figure out what it is.

I do think Odom needs to invest in at least one big that can consistently score around the basket once he gets here. Itās great to have frontcourt guys who are athletic and protect the rim, but when you donāt have a true post presence and the shots arenāt falling from the perimeter it really stagnates your offense.
Reminds me of our 2017 team offensively after Austin Nichols got kicked off the team.

This is a win-win scenario now.
If VCU comes back to win this game, super impressive and itāll add even more hype to the Odom hire.
If VCU loses, no shame they lost to a good team. We can announce Odom as our coach in the next couple days and get this crazy ass offseason officially started.

Just checked in as they were showing 1st half highlights and my only take is that Traore is thicc. 6ā6" 250 lbs is a S-tier build for a college big.
Eeesh, bad Jack Clark sequence. Gets toasted on the press and puts them on a 5-on-4 on D that ends up in an open BYU 3 and then gives up an and-one.
That guy would have destroyed our bigs

There are two canonical big man builds:
- Skinny beanpole with Inspector Gadget arms and pogo legs.
- Thicc defensive end-sized guy who gets vanity-sized on the roster at 6ā6" (heās actually 6ā3.5").

Just one game and theyāre overmatched, but I have to agree with Haywoodā¦ doesnāt seem like there are a lot of in-game adjustments going on.

Just an fyi, this will BYUās 10th win in the last 11, with the one loss being Houston. This team is damn good.

Iāve been a fan of the potential Odom hire, but also knew going into this game that VCU was running into a buzz saw. Demin and Saunders will play 10+ years in the NBA.
