Well this game went about how I expected. BYU the better team, but also wasn’t a fan of how Odom adjusted to the zone. Just wasn’t enough and couldn’t get enough stops on the other end to keep it close.

That being said though let’s get this new era started, despite how much fun it can be I think I’ve had my fill of nitpicking coach resumes. Time to finally hire somebody.

Agree but not sure what he can do with his personnel. They don’t have a great option for the middle of the zone

Goes with the point I was making in the other thread when talking about coaching candidates…year 2 was a homerun for Odom. But homeruns in year 2 at most schools is about getting where they are today, that’s the ceiling. It’s whether what you’re building beneath the surface now pays off in the next few years…that’s the do something big window. Yet to be seen with Odom. No complaints with his time at VCU, today, anything else. Just questions of whether this is what he does or if he can take it next level.

Hope it works out but was not impressed with his coaching adjustments when BYU went zone.

The VCU offense was stagnant and looked like a UVa offense dribbling / passing around the perimeter and then taking a bad shot with 5 seconds on the shot clock.

The VCU man offense is good and I like the faster pace on both ends, but Odom had no answer for the zone - like when Furman zoned us after we had gotten a lead and were cooking. They went zone and we got super stagnant. Tony didn’t adjust and the lead evaporated.
